Porthminster Cafe, Porthminster Beach, St Ives

Porthminster Cafe is set right on the edge of Porthminster Beach and is arguably one of the best located restaurants in Cornwall. You can see right across to St Ives harbour (and walk it when the tide is out) to Godrevy Lighthouse in the opposite direction. Porthminster Cafe is now open all day so you are able to get breakfast, lunch and dinner there and if the weather is good, you must take advantage of the decked area (heated in the winter months) overlooking the beach. You can also just drop in for coffee or a hot chocolate with crumpets which is just lovely after a long walk or even if you've been lazing about on the beach. The restaurant itself is laid back, the staff efficient and the food is a mixture of Mediterranean / Asian influenced locally caught fish and shellfish which is just superb. The restaurant is not cheap but if you're lucky enough to be sitting in the window, the whole ambience overtakes you and leaves you feeling very content with life. We have been going to St Ives for short breaks for three years now and will continue to visit Porthminster Cafe as it never fails to disappoint. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting St Ives.
