Poor Value

I knew Flora Tearooms had a reputation for it's fish and chips but with the Tearooms in the name I thought they would do sandwiches and cakes but no such luck !When I asked a member of staff they pointed to the menu high on the wall and said "just what's on the menu" which was you've guessed it fish and chips; whilst friendly enough I found there was an air of indifference. This is no genteel tea room but a mass catering fish and chip shop.

Great fish and chips, beautifully cooked fish, couldn't be fresher. A Suffolf tradition; I've been visiting here for over 40 years!

This Has To Be The Worst Fish And Chip Restaurant

This has to be the worst Fish and Chip restaurant in East Anglia. The fish was pleasant but spoilt by a very bland thin batter, the chips were frozen and of very poor quality. When ordering we were encouraged to add bread, peas and coffee to our order, this amounted to almost £10 per person, very poor value for money. The coffee was from an urn and was undrinkable. This used to a very good restaurant but now unfortunately spoilt by an owner who clearly puts profit a long way in front of quality and value for money. What happened to the lovely properly battered fish, quality fresh chips and mushy peas that used to be served here?

I Had Heard That The Fish And Chips At Floral Tea

I had heard that the fish and chips at Floral Tea Rooms, Dunwich were the 'Best'sadly I found them disappointing. The fish had been previously frozen and the chips were bog standard supermarket frozen, the bread roll was also a supermarket mass produced one. Even the salt on the table was not in a pot but just the plastic container. All in all it came across as cheap and tacky.

Firstly it's FLORA Tea Rooms, NOT FLORAL and the fish there is most certainly not frozen, ever. It gets there fresh in the morning at about half past 10 every day from the local market in Lowestoft and is never frozen in Dunwich as they use it all in the day often selling out. Plus if you put salt out with all the sea air it would get sticky, plus with the vinegar is also in plastic containers and i'm sure this is probably due to thefts of them. It is not a 5 star restaurant, it is a glorified chippy. You obviously are not a local or a coastal resident.

I Only Go There If I Am Taking Someone To Show The

I only go there if I am taking someone to show them the area. However, they are now charging much higher prices and it is not worth it, considering it is tacky. I think it would be better if it was made a little moreup market.

My Wife And I Decided To Eat At The Floral Tea Roo

My wife and I decided to eat at the Floral Tea Rooms in Dunwich, because the last time we had a meal there, the fish and chips in our opinion were the best you could buy. However, this time, on the 11/08/2007 we were dished up OVEN CHIPS and what appeared and tasted like the day befores warmed up fish. Needless to say, that's the last time we go there again.

Floral Tea Rooms Is A Good Place To End Up After A

Floral Tea Rooms is a good place to end up after a bracing walk along the beach or a day fishing. If you want posh nosh and white table cloths, don't bother. If you want straightforward fish and chips and enjoy the Suffolk Coast, don't miss it.

The Floral Tea Rooms Is Supposed To Be A Fish & Ch

The Floral Tea Rooms is supposed to be a fish & chip institution and always used to be good over the years. We drove up from north Essex and were left totally unsatisfied by the experience and nearly £20 poorer (1 child & two adults).

The fish seemed fresh, as it flaked into lots of small pieces, but the portion was small and tasted either very bland or slightly chemical. The chips were uninspiring and no better than you would expect from a supermarket.

The fish and chip shop in Aldeburgh we last used in in December 2004, was infinitely better. We wondered if anybody knows if there has been a change in ownership at the Floral? Our conclusion is 'must try harder'. We won't be going back.

adding a comment to ' Jansells Review ' I am just pointing out that 'Flora Tea Rooms' has the same owner and has been for many years, It is actually owned by 2 Ladies but the son is the head one and does the frying.

The place is not as good as it used to be and is getting worse by the season !!

OK - so it is in a very good position by the beach.

As I have said before they can charge what they like and people will pay - but it is not quality or value for money. It is a gold mine . . . . . .
