Been recommended so 4 of us went for lunch. Attractive decor in the room. Chose a table, it was early, a little after noon so lots to choose from. Two of the chairs had cushion seats and two wooden seats. The wooden ones were rather unyielding. I noticed that the unoccupied table nearest to us had two cushion seated chairs and two with wooden seats. I decided to swop our two hard chairs for the two cushion seated chairs.

The waitress noticed and said " not very fair on other people is it". There was no one else there. I really don't see such a minor rearrangement of the furniture to suit the comfort of customers should be frowned upon. The arrangement was changed back soon after we stood up and before we had left the premises.

As the previous reviewer had noted, plate clearing was started before we had all finished.

Requests for extras were not warmly received.

Food was presented well but quite highly priced.

Essentially at these prices the service needs to be better

Rubens absolutely beautiful. Relaxing atmosphere. Have been back again and again. Busy on a weekend but worth the wait.

The genral atmosphere is plesant and the decor is really nice and welcoming. we sat down at a lovely table and admired our suroundings.

upon looking at the menu i thought the prices were quite expensive, (£5 for a sandwich) but thought you probably got a side salad or chips with it.

When we received our food the waitress didnt say "enjoy your food" or a friendly word to be polite. so I thought ok im not in a restaurant nevermind. Food was served on a wooden board which was a lovely touch. I was quite shocked to just get a small T-cake with my filling, a sprig of micro herbs on the side and about 6 crisps (which were soft). No-one came to do a checkback throughout eating. I finished well before my mum did, the waitress proceeded to come over and start clearing the table while my mum was still eating!! Ive worked in restaurant's for 7 years and know that this is one of the rudest things that a waitress can do. we were planning on staying for a piece of cake and another cup of tea, but this annoyed me so much we went elsewhere.
