Gears Of War 2 (Xbox 360)

First off graphics are stunning the ruins of the buildings and civilisation look amazing. The gameplay with the unreal engine is brilliant and the story is immersible and captivating throughout where you care what happens. Multiplayer and horde waves is also brilliant. roll on gears 3

ars of war 2 is an ultra-violent shooter exclusively available on the XBOX 360. Gears of war 2 is about a world were creatures called locust live underground.The locust begin a war with the human race. You play as Marcus Phenix, A COG soldier, and fight your way through hordes of locust monsters. Gears of war 2 is probably one of the best games I've ever played. The story is fresh, interesting, and highly addictive. The gameplay is fast paced and enjoyable. Gears of war 2 introduces a new cover system, with fits smoothly and perfectly with the action of the game. One flaw i did notice is the sprint button and the cover button are the same. I often found myself trying to run through an area, and my character will duck behind a nearby cover spot. However, the shooting is fluid, smooth, and accurate. Also, this game introduces some cool features such as a chainsaw. The game is pretty gorey, but for those who don't like intense violence, you have the option to turn of the gore and language. The game also includes multiplayer, both online and offline with bots. Also there is cooperative campaign.

Gears of War is easily one of the best games of 2008 for many reasons. The campaign, Horde mode, the graphics, all epic. The story is a well written sci-fi one, with awesome characters(ESPECIALLY Marcus Fenix, he's probably my all time favorite game hero). The story is about elite soldiers called Gears, who are Marcus, Dom, Baird, and Cole(who is hilarious) as they delve deep into Locust(or "Grub") territory to light up the beacon, and kill the queen.

The campaign, as said is frikkin' awesome, you can play it alone or with a friend. It's really long for a shooter campaign, being about 7-11 hrs. The campaign has some good replay value of at least 2-3 playthroughs. For offliners, there's bots to play aginst and with in all the modes in multiplayer, and for onliner, there's(durrr) online multi. The multi(excluding the bot play) isn't very good, as theres more lag than the average game, and the weapons arn't incredibly balanced. Their still pretty balanced though. The bot play is really fun though, especially split-screened with a friend. Horde mode is alot of fun, its a survival mode with 50 rounds and the farther you go, the harder it gets. You can also turn the difficulty up when it starts getting to easy. You and some friends fight dozens of Locust each round, as the types of Locust get harder, so does their health, accuracy and damage every 10 levels.

The graphics in this game are some of the best out there, and push the limits of all game's graphics. The characters and enviorments are beautifully detailed.

The voice acting is top notch, the gun and other sounds are very well done. The soundtrack is great.

So overall Gears of War 2 is a flat-out awesome game that should be in everyones collection(exept kids 12 and younger, its really violent). You will also find alot of replay value in this game as well.

Great graphics with a better story line than the first one. Gore is present throughout the game so a warning to younger/more sensitive gamers. What I liked was the action that is present throughout and originality of it as a whole. Depressing towards the end though because again you don't defeat them.

The third is coming out in 2011. And word has it that it is going to be totally off the hook (in the good sense)

-: I have since played more of the game, discovering the multiplayer mode for the first time. Therefore, this is a review on the Multiplayer mode exclusively. No other part of the game will be taken into account... :-

The multiplayer for this game is superb. With fast paced battles, innovative new playstyles, and a strange way that players play... Everyone seems to have icredibly strange tactics, indeed, ones that deviate from tactics used in other FPS games. Lots of ducking and rolling yes, but sniping round corners, hiding round corners about 1 metre away from eachother, blasting with snipers and shotguns... very strange, yet strangley refreshing. you have to play it to understand truly. Good graphics, and fun play, the multiplayer stands out from the campaign like no other game i have seen...

...well, maybe MGSO, but's thats for another day...

To be frank, this is not an impressive game, despite the hype. If you like FPS games fantically, then you will like this. Otherwise, don't bother. Overall it's a mediocre, generic shooter. The enemies, although clever, seem un-inspired. Just shoot and run, shoot and run... The controls and the interface are quite confusing, and it feels really clunky and unresponsive.

There just appears to be no thought or creativity in this game. It's like a total copy of a bunch of other shooters: No twists, no hooks, no gimmicks, no special things.

Just dull... uninspired... generic gameplay...

I found this game really fun to play. The guns are graet bacause you can saw the Locust in half and blood spurts all over your sceen. The multiplayer is ok but could do with some more things to do. Have finished this game on hardcore with a lot of swearing but loved every minuet of it. The game is an 18 but I think it should be lowerd to a 15 because its not that bad. I would recommend this to everyone who likes to play sifi war games or to people who just want to shoot some aliens. Thats why I played it anyway. I would of liked to know what the price was first from Gamestation because it was on the shelf but there was no price for it. Something for Gamestation to look into, other than that, I would recommend Gamestation too!
