If You Like F1 And Have Been Disappointed In The P
If you like F1 and have been disappointed in the past from previous games, the wait is over. This game provides everything that a Formula 1 fan could want. Being a massive F1 fan myself and feeling I wasted my life not trying to become a racing driver, in a small entertaining way, this makes up for it.
The detail is superb, from the exact car specifications, actual drivers from the season, your own team Coach, the TREAD on the TYRES. Graphically, this is bar far the best I have seen, with depth of colour really apparent with varying weather conditions.
Audio? Wow. the engine sounds have been meticulously recreated, and when using a 5.1 surround system, the cars approaching from behind really add to the experience.
I own the MS steering wheel with force feedback, and what a joy it is to finally have a game that works so well with it. I don't have a lot of time to play games these days, but I am making time for this, as any true F1 fan will no it's not a jump in and race. You can teak the cars setting, go out for test laps, enter qualifying with real time constraints before entering the actual grand prix. this is a definitely a game for a dedicated F1 fan.
Bad points, the AI driver styles are not particularly different. Where as you can tell the difference between drivers in F1, such as Lewis Hamilton's aggressive style, or Schumacher's 'bumping in to people' style, they all seem a bit uniform, but this doesn't matter a great deal. Another missed opportunity is that you can't get out and walk round the paddock, this would have been a nice touch, as you can do this is PGR 3 and view all the cars in your garage.
All in all, a superb game, and I look forward to getting stuck in to the season :)
