An Underwater Utopia Torn Apart By A Genetic Civil

An underwater utopia torn apart by a genetic civil war. A populace driven mad by the constant splicing of their genetic design. And the only way to survive; traverse the leaking halls of the sunken city, and solve the mystery of the fall of Andrew Ryan's dream.

Welcome to Rapture.

Bioshock, a thrilling game based on the morality of a person's choices, is a brilliant foray into the frontier of the FPS/RPG genre. Given that it is a game which is almost entirely focused on the bloody conflict of many horror titles, it was a pleasant surprise to find that Bioshock clearly sustains its story from beginning to end, weaving an enthralling tale of morality as you travel through the fallen city of Rapture. Through this, a brilliant gameplay system is featured to heighten the truly astounding experience that is Bioshock.

The graphics and sound in this have certainly set the bar high for future games of the genre. Of these, the most noticeable effects featured are in the various appearances of water and blood, which are remarkably vivid in the world of Rapture. Furthermore, the soundtrack is in itself a work of art, capturing the true essence of the year 1960.

With all this, Bioshock is without a doubt one of the best games I have played this year.
