Worms Armageddon Bridges The Gap That Was Laid In
Worms Armageddon bridges the gap that was laid in front of Worms 2 quite nicely. It has single and multiplayer versions and not just of the all too familiar death match set up. I.e. Team on Team all out winner takes all battle. There are also some single player games including training missions (especially useful for those having never played before) which help increase the players capability and also unlock some features in the game when winning the top award for the particular skill. There are also objective based missions, in which the objectives are capture the weapon drop, protect the VIP, and the old kill everything in site mission favourite.
The game's primary purpose is to have an all out war of teams of little worms taking turns to kill or maim each other with a range of military weapons from the normal - Bazooka, shotgun, grenade, to the down right ridiculous, banana bombs, Concrete donkeys, and flying exploding (and later on, after completing some game objectives, swimming) sheep within a set turn time.
I never tire of the endless range of terrain types and that the game is different every time even with the often predictable and quite frankly boring AI opposition. its much harder to pit yourself against a friend's team, or many friends in fact! This is almost always true though! The great features of customisation allow players to change everything about their team, from team member names to special weapons to the voices they use when they have been hit or scream incoming down their radio for an air strike against foes. Then you can customise the turn time each team gets, how sudden death gets activated, even how much of a hole in the floor a holy hand grenade makes... it's all so crazy the fun never stops! And there is a skill in playing too which means you get addicted to getting better. Hours fly by and before you know it is 2 am and you've forgotten to have tea again!
Cheap now as its a dated game by comparison to the more modern 3D versions of the same thing, but this was such a great deal at £5.00 from a oldies and goldies bin in a game store I had to get it!!
