I Kind Of Expecting More For A Game That Has Been

I kind of expecting more for a game that has been around for a long time. The game play still looks the same. I was hoping they would pull out something new. Like how they revolutionized the first person shooters when everyone was still using the DOS programs.

This Game Is The Reason I Got Myself An Xbox. I Al

This game is the reason I got myself an Xbox. I already had a PS2, but it apparently isn't fast enough to run Doom 3, hence it's not available for the PS2.

It's one great game, fun and scary to play, the sounds add to the scare factor and the graphics are spot on. It can get quite hard at times, but for the most part it's just right. The game is very dark and can appear quite nasty, so it's not for children, unless they are big ones like me!

I paid £19.99 used, but I should imagine it's a lot less by now.

Buy it! You won't be disappointed.

Doom 3 Is The Third Of The Classic Doom Series, Wh

Doom 3 is the third of the classic Doom series, which set the true trend for the current First Person Shooting genre. For those new to the Doom style, in three words it's dark, bloody and gloomy!

Doom 3 is set in the future, in Mars City. The game features a wide array of weapons, from the standard Pistol and Shotgun, to the more extreme weapon of the chainsaw, and also includes ID software's famous BFG!

The graphics are fantastic! All the areas you're in, look realistic, and even mars looks how you would expect it to. Made even better with the zombies, and other man killing creatures, looking every bit deadly (especially when you fail to realise they're there until they are gnawing your arm off).

The main area of the game is the darkness it's set in. Usually there is quite a lot of darkness, whether it be the whole area in dim lighting, or just the corners of the room. There is usually a substantial area, where a creature is waiting to pounce upon you.

Only when you put your gun away, and flip out your flashlight, do the gorgeous surroundings your in, come into their element. The shadow effects are truly something else.

The fact you may only have a flashlight in your hand, or your gun (or chainsaw etc), adds to the enjoyment. You can see it and not shoot it, or not see it, and attempt to shoot in the rough direction you think it is in! Okay you can hit the killing creatures with the flashlight, but it is about as effective, as trying to solve an algebraic equation by chewing bubble gum. And you do see the killing creature during the shooting of your gun, via the flash of the gun firing, but this is for a mere millisecond!

Doom 3 supports 5.1 surround sound, adding that extra element to realism. The subtle background music and noise, works brilliantly, and really puts you on edge!

Doom 3 also features multiplayer with Live use. Again this is full of dark rooms all ready for your full fragging delight! I haven't played this much, which is why there is not much of a review on the multiplayer element of the game.

I would recommend Doom 3 to everyone who enjoys kicking alien butt, and changing their underwear regularly!
