This Is Not A Long Book To Read, But It Is Remarka

This is not a long book to read, but it is remarkable in some ways. The author has separately interviewed a dozen people with a lot of experience in the topic of the book and has given them a chance to speak their mind. The entire book is devoted to recording what they had to say. The interviewees pretty well all seem to enjoy the process and the result is an abundance of observations, recommendations, bewailings, exhortations, confessions, wise tips, even inspirations, arising from a few central questions. On the one hand, these questions are focused in time and place: basically, where is a particular church now going? On the other hand, many of the responses do not seem tied to any particular time or place. Yet the responses are concrete. Individual responses struck several chords with me and will probably capture the interest of ordinary parishioners like me and even more the clergy and anyone actively involved or getting involved in parish or diocese, possibly anywhere in the western world today. Also, I suppose, anyone interested in studying the church as an institution will find this book a good primary source. I encountered more than enough to mull over and digest. Chances are you will enjoy some of the fairly candid outpourings!
