This Book Is Written By Paul Torday, Who Also Wrot

This book is written by Paul Torday, who also wrote Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. It is structure in reverse, dropping the reader into Wilberfore's life in the present and jumping back in 2 year increments. It tells a story of Wilberforce and his slow decent into into alcoholism, which at a glance seems like it wouldn't be particularly chirpy, but the character of Wilberforce is good enough to carry it, and there are lots of light moments.

Making the book work backwards in the way must have been difficult to do, but it is achieved really well. I enjoyed the beginning of the book the best, which is odd really as this is the part when he is in the biggest mess. Perhaps this say more about me than anything. As you get deeper into the story we learn how his addiction has destroyed everything that he has come to treasure.

Again, it sounds sad but it is quite funny and defo worth a read
