Conrad's brilliant tale featuring a mystical narrator and his attempt to locate the mysterious absconded colonial servant Kurtz deep down in the Belgian Congo. The key elements of the book are its savage depiction of colonialism and slavery and its parable of the journey into the savagery of the jungle and colonialism and the journey into the self.
