Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms

Arguably Hemingway's greatest achievement, 'A Farewell to Arms' serves as a passionate evocation of the reality of war. Though the author's iconically simple style may not appeal to everyone, I found it suited the story perfectly. Dialogue is presented almost like a transcript, with little being elaborated so the reader focuses solely on the words of the characters. Among the greatest novelists of our time, Hemingway here proves that he deserves to be known as such.
