The Vampire Agent

Patricia Rosemoor and Marc Paoletti

Del Rey, Dec 30 2008, $6.99

ISBN: 9780345501059

During the recent battle with the evil vampire Andre Espinoza, Special Ops Captain Scott Boulder was contaminated by the malevolent one; he knows his humanity has been breached. Anthropologist Leah Maguire saves his soul from the mummy she and a priestess brought back to his undead life. They with his Ultra Team unit manage to exile Andre to some sort of other dimensional space (see THE LAST VAMPIRE). Fearing his own new super powers and how much humanity he may have lost, Scott has his unit lock him up so he will harm no one. Black ops research scientist Darryl Adams is studying his blood disease with hopes of finding a cure.

Meanwhile at Meischer Labs in Bayou Fonce, Louisiana top secret experiment subject Rachel Ackart is losing her grip on reality. As she slips into insanity, Andre plans to use her as a portal for his return. Once back he will dine on still five years since Katrina devastated New Orleans until he regains all his strength. Then he will go after the pair who banished him to the ether of a differing plane employing his blood connection.

The second vampire urban fantasy is another excellent thriller as the lead couple fights a nasty villain even though he is beyond the mortal plane while also struggling with an attraction and fears the hero may be changing into a monster. The story line is fast-paced from the moment the audience learns of Scott's incarceration and never slows down. Filed with twist due to Judas like betrayals and the incompetence of the military hiding behind bureaucratic inanity while souls are at stake (pun intended), fans will relish exciting thriller.
