Having First Hand Experience In Iraq Is Something
Having first hand experience in Iraq is something that really sets Ryan apart from others in this field. The reader gets a true sense of what life was like in the country shortly before and during the war, and don't be surprised at feeling real tension whilst reading about some of Nick and Jed's experiences. Furthermore, all the military essentials (and non essentials) are there for the more gun-ho reader.
The plot wanders, with a few slightly incredulous moments and the language is at times repetitive to the point of being irksome. The ending too is a little disappointing (barring one interesting twist.)
Having said this, the book Is an enjoyable one and worth it's money, even if it's for a chuckle at some of the lighter moments or the odd dig at politicians.
