I Loved Roald Dahl's The Twits As A Kid. I Think D

I loved Roald Dahl's The Twits as a kid. I think Dahl's humor should be brought to the attention of every child when they are trying to figure out for themselves what they find amusing.

The Story Is Very Cleverly Executed. The House Had

The story is very cleverly executed. The house had no windows, therefore the Twits, the two revolting main charactors couldn't see what was happening outside & under their very (ugly) noses. There are some complicated words used within the book, but this did not distract from the essence of the story. Also you could say that Dahl portrayed bearded & ugly people as being nasty so it is mindful to not take his politically incorrect stance as gospel, & appreciate that it is meant for children to engage with, not to be taken literally (so to speak)! I think this book is not aimed at any particular gender or age & should be marveled as the master piece it is. The illustrations portray the image of the story brilliantly & sum up the charactors perfectly, diagrams and all. Loved it when I was a young girl, & still love it today as a grown woman & so do all 3 of my children. A timeless tale of funny odd balls doing funny, yet revolting things to each other & others in a way that no body could take offence to, unless you are a character in the book!

The Twits Were A Horrible Disgusting Couple. They

The Twits were a horrible disgusting couple. They lived in a house with no windows so no one could look in and see them. In their garden they grew nettles and thistles to keep out the 'horrid little children' and there was also a dead tree and some monkeys they kept in a cage.

Mr Twit had a beard. A horrible spikey beard that stuck out all over the place. Bits of food used to get stuck in it. Ugh!

Mrs Twit was just plain ugly. She wasn't always like that, just grew uglier and uglier as her horrible personality grew more horrible! She had a glass eye. She also had a walking stick - not to help her walk, but to hit things or children with.

Mr and Mrs Twit liked to play horrible tricks on each other - like the time she made spaghetti bolognese for Mr Twit - with real wriggly worms! And put her glass eye in Mr Twits drink so when he reached the end of his drink - ugh! And like the time Mr Twit gradually built up Mrs Twits walking stick and chair legs - to make her think she had the dreaded shrinks! He then told her he would have to stretch her by tying her ankle down and making her hold lots of balloons. She felt a little uncomfortable, but instead of adjusting her ankle ties - Mr Twit cut them, sending her high into the sky! She came hurtling back down when the balloons burst, much to Mr Twits surprise and horror!

Every week Mrs Twit cooked a bird pie for their supper with birds they caught by putting glue on the branches of an old dead tree in the garden.

Mr Twit also kept some Mugglewump monkeys in a cage in the garden, and made them all do upside down tricks which they really didn't like!

One day the Roly Poly bird came to visit, and devised a plan to help the Mugglewump monkeys and the birds who feared getting caught in the glue on the tree and being made into bird pie. And to teach the Twits a lesson they would never forget............

Another great story by Roald Dahl that kids will just love. And if you read it to your children I'm sure you will love this book almost as much too!

Review:

"THE TWITS"

The book "The Twits" by Roald Dahl is about a very ugly couple, Mr and Mrs Twit. Mr Twit has a long, long beard, and gets every kind of food you can think of stuck in it. Mrs. Twit has gotten very ugly over the years because she has thought nasty thoughts, and when you think nasty thoughts you become ugly. Even if you are fat, have buck teeth, and a hotdog shaped nose, and you think happy thoughts, you still don't look like an ugly person. Mr. and Mrs. Twit are very nasty people and play tricks on each other all the time. For example Mr Twit put a frog in Mrs Twit's bed, so Mrs Twit put worms in Mr Twit's spaghetti for revenge.

Mr and Mrs Twit love bird pie. The way Mr Twit catches the birds is by putting sticky glue (which is the most powerful glue in the world) on the big dead tree they have in the backyard, and when the birds come at night to sit in the tree they get stuck, cooked, and eaten in the Twits bird pie. Mr Twit has four monkeys, and they live in a cage near the big dead tree. They hate that Mr Twit does such things to the birds, but they can't tell the birds because they speak Australian, and the birds speak English. One day, a Rolly Polly bird comes from Australia. He knows how to speak English, and he tells the birds to not go on the tree. Together the monkeys and all the birds take revenge on the Twits.

If I had to rate this book on a scale of 1-10, I would rate it a 2 because it is very boring and definitely one of the most childish books anybody have ever forced me to read.
