Very Gripping, More So Because You Know That All O
Very gripping, more so because you know that all of the things in the book actually happened, to innocent young people who were put in Guantanamo Bay because of their religion and origins as well as adults. I didn't like the scenes where the main character (Khalid) is tortured, mainly because all of the horrible torture methods mentioned were/are actually used there, but I think its one of the best books I've ever read, I'd definately recommend it to a friend, and I think it's also good value for money.

Must Must Read - Highly Recommended....... Guanta
MUST MUST READ - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED....... GUANTANAMO BOY... A FACT BASED FICTION
I am not a teenager but a mature adult and was at first skeptical whether this children's writer could hold my attention for long enough. I started to read the book and got more and more pulled in to it so much so that I was unable to put it down. Her style of writing not to mention the content of the topic was so intriguing and hard hitting that I carried on reading and finished it in a few days. The last few chapters made me cry they were so realistic and gripping. Anna Perera deserved the costa award she almost got, because she is a sensitive, realistic, imaginative and intense writer. I can't wait for her next book "The Glass Collector" which is about the Egyptian Coptic Christian society, another factual based story that will educate our children. That is what is so wonderful about Anna, she educates the children through her story telling too. Highly Recommended.. must read....
