Great Day Out
What a great day we had here... The animals looked to be in fantastic condition ... Only complaint would be the lack of maps to find our way about .. Probably our fault as we didn't ask on entry
Un Friendly Staff And Lack Of Knowledge And Enrichment
The staff are very un friendly, you walk past and they completely ignore you, especially when you go into the cafe. Animals do not have proper enrichment items, hardly any infact. Some animals enclosures of very small/old. Very odd Place.

Nice Place , Well Worth Going
Came to Hamerton zoo today with my two children, although very very warm it was a good day out with plenty to do, they loved it.
My only downside was theres not enough seating around the park for the eldery and pregnant people like myself, also the cafe was very expensive.
Other than that it was brilliant.

A Pleasantly Time Spent At This Small Value For Money Zoo.
My expectations were not great after reading other reviews on this zoo and judging by the admission price being so much more reasonable than other zoos, however I had a thoroughly enjoyable few hours.
The animal enclosures were very clean and the animals all looked happy and well cared for. You could get a lot closer to these animals than other zoos I've been to and although there are not a huge variety of animals there there was enough to see to keep my 7 year old more than happy.
A downside was not all the areas were accessible by pathways and so it was rather muddy under foot in places. Also, some of the enclosures and surrounding areas look a little tired but I think for the revenue the zoo must bring in and considering the cost of caring for the animals, then this was not surprising. I'd rather have happy animals than a state of the art cafe.
If you don't expect the size of London Zoo or the variety of animals at Wobourn Abbey then you should have an enjoyable 2 1/2 - 3 hours here.

Animals Were Very Clean But Because Of The Way Som
Animals were very clean but because of the way some of the enclosures are set out you can't see the animals. I thought it was expensive and would not travel a long way to go there. It was all over in a couple of hours (and we didn't rush round). Seems they had duplicated some of the animals just to fill up the space. Coffee was expensive particuarly as it comes out of a machine.
The reason they 'duplicate' the animals is because the place is first and foremost a conservation and breeding centre. The tourist attraction part comes second (which is obvious when you try to find a staff memeber or want any food from the cafe). Once you're aware of this you can understand the place a bit better although I think it would benefit from more information about the conservation they do there.

very boring for the under 3's as they cannot see anything.
animals too far away to get a good look at.
not reccommended and i wont go back
did you really visit ,if you couldn't see the animals you must of had your eyes shut ,was you to mean to pick the child up ,it really makes me mad when people put stupid reviews up ,just out of spite ,i do not believe you could not see the animals ,is a cheap day out ,plus you can 10% off on line and under 3 for free , don't tell me a 3 year old didn't enjoy a pony ride or play area .your review is total rubbish

A Young Zoo, Quite Small, But With A Surprisingly
A young zoo, quite small, but with a surprisingly versatile collection of animals. We particularly enjoyed the Lar Gibbons, as there was a 4 month old baby going about with Mum in the enclosure. The zoo is small, but they are improving and expanding, currently building enclosures for several animals, including anteaters. Some beautiful animals there though, Binturong, Aardwolves, Lemurs and Gibbons, along with some of the more 'usual' animals such as Donkeys and Camels. Cheap as chips, and a nice little zoo that's very local to us. Highly recommended, just go with an open mind. :)

We Went To Hamerton Zoo A Few Days Ago But Wouldn'
We went to Hamerton Zoo a few days ago but wouldn't go back. I think if it was on a really dry day it would be ok, but one of the big attractions that we had been told about was the great play area. It was waterlogged and we were up to our ankles in muck! All the pieces of equipment had a huge muddy puddle around them. We just found it wasn't great compared to other zoos we have been to. At least we just paid £25.20 for the 4 of us to get in. ( Prices due to go up on 1st March 2011).
The animals are good, beautiful owls, but we didn't see any animal feeding or keeper talks. There may have been, but there was no info up anywhere, you had to buy a brochure for about £2.50 which may have had info about that in there. Every other zoo we have ever been to, would at least give a free map and keeper talk times. Not that you would need a map there........ you could walk round and see it all within about half an hour!

It Was Very Cold And Raining So All The Animals We
It was very cold and raining so all the animals were inside . The ones that were out did not look happy at all . Was a bit annoyed by the fact it was full price in the winter season which was compounded by the miserable woman on reception and the 3.00 pound I paid for two cups of coffee in small paper cups , which came out of the same vending machine we have at work which costs 20p each to both staff and customers. I would think this would be a much better day out in the summer.
