Disappointed

Firstly the positives. The grounds and environment are lovely especially the dinosaur park. Everywhere including the toilets is very clean. There are lots of picnic areas and seating dotted around the zoo.

Now sadly the negatives. The entrance fee we felt was steep especially when on top of that you have to pay £2.50 to park and £2.50 if you want a map/guide book. However we pre booked and paid the entry fee online and got 10% discount which was something. We didn't feel there was a lot to see for the price. In addition an hour into our visit and the bouncy castle was just starting to be inflated and none of the little food/drink kiosks were 'open yet' to purchase drinks and we were therefore directed back to the main cafe near to where we entered the zoo (not much fun when it's a hot day with 2 young children!). We feel that when the zoo opens everything should be ready after all that's what we are paying for.

Attacked

Me and my friends went to the zoo and we were having a good time. We all had our children with us and decided that we should eat in picnic area. My son was attacked by geese, it was extremely horrifying, even passers by stop to try and help, my son was stood holding a sandwich when one of them went mental and started pecking his back! He is three and now has a fear of any birds. I contacted the zoo and waited weeks for a reply from the zoo manager, he did NOTHING and accused my son of chasing the them. He wasn't even there... so why say this I have no idea. If you do go just be careful of any animals that are in the zoo because they turn out to be more dangerous than the ones behind bars! If you ever have to contact the zoo for whatever reason don't bother they are as useful as dead slugs!

Disgusted

5 0r 6 people reported a giant tortoise struggling on its back, it was suffering and distressed and obviously tired. The receptionist refused to get help until it had been on its back for an hour. How long it had been on its back before people started reporting it no one knew but she told us that it happens in the wild and there was nothing to worry about, how wrong she is, turtles can die of dehydration in they cant tip themselves back over and they can damage their lungs. She was laughing with someone on the phone and was not concerned at all. I thought zoos were meant to look after the animals in their care, I appreciate this must happen often, but as so many of us were concerned i really do think we should have been taken more seriously, then maybe I would not have to be so blunt with this review.

A Simply Fantastic Day Out

We took out eldest a seven year for her birthday. Even though it was May the weather in the morning was terrible! we had a fantastic time all three of our kids 7, 6 and 3 had the best adventure from the dinosaur world right through to the elephants and lions. All the areas had covered enclosures so even in the rain it's a great venue.

We really enjoyed our trip and I'd recommend anybody wanting a great family day out to visit the zoo. The cafe was great value too. I found the prices and the staff very friendly.

There is a adventure playground next door that you do have to pay extra for.

Had A Great Day Out With My Son At Blackpool Zoo T

Had a great day out with my son at Blackpool Zoo today!! Plenty of animals to see and happy to see them in good clean enclosures. My first thought was to drive down to Chester however with the weather not being great I chose Blackpool with it being closer to home. I made a great decision. My son is only 12 months old and although sleepy after lunch there was not a chance he was going to miss out on the action. I would highly recommend a visit and agree that you may not need a full day, but there is certainly plenty to see and do whilst there. The only downside to me was the toilets which were ok but could have looked a little fresher,. certainly with it not being a very busy day. Would not put me off going again and again :)

Blackpool Zoo Is Worth A Visit If Your Staying Or

blackpool zoo is worth a visit if your staying or living in blackpool or any town near it, if you had one more day free in blackpool and it was either the zoo or the aquarium choose the zoo as it would occupy you for more hours of the day

We Had A Great Afternoon Out But It Would Not Fill

We had a great afternoon out but it would not fill a whole day, some of the staff were very nice and the animals were well looked after. Good parking, set out really well, with great displays the kids enjoyed the dinosaurs and the parrot display. Expensive to get in and the food to buy was also expensive

Having Been Given A Leaflet Outside By A Animal Ri

Having been given a leaflet outside by a animal rights campaigner I was sorry to have this confirmed once I'd paid my £9.00 admission fee.

I am not an animal rights campaiger but some of the conditions these animals were kept in should not be allowed. I'd suggest another zoo that houses and displays it's animals in better conditions.

I found this review not helpful because... The Zoo has been taken over by a different company and completely refurbished and redone since this review was written.

Zoologist

This person obviously has no ideas of the habitat enrichment undertaken for all of the animals at Blackpool zoo and other zoos like it! As for the size of the enclosures; the seal lion pool is one of the larger pools you are likely to see in Europe and the Lions and tigers do not just walk on concrete! They have large enclosures considering that lions and tigers rest for the vast majority of the day anyway! Please inform yourself better when commenting publicly for your own sake aswell of the sake of the organisation you are writing a critique on.
