Clear Picture, Lots Of Features And (the Usual) Weedy Sound

I bought this TV (called an EX621 from the place I bought it) to complement a Sony blu-ray player I got at the same time. It was an absolute breeze to set up, the interface is nice and the TV is great looking. I was specifically looking for a unit that wasn't too big, would have striking picture quality and didn't have 3D - I personally think 3D is a load of overblown headache-inducing nonsense. The TV is billed as an Internet TV with loads of online features, some of which I would NEVER use (and I can't see why anyone would) and others that require moneyt o be spent on extras.

Good:

1. Clear, crisp 2D pictures (no 3D remember).

2. Tilt and swivel tabletop stand.

3. Loads of inputs.

4. Bravia Sync control for other Sony devices.

5. Has an iPad / iPhone app to act as a controller.

6. Wired Internet services such as Netflix.

7. Is aesthetically pleasing, even when off.

8. Has optical out for sound.

Bad:

1. Wi-fi is an expensive optional extra.

2. Speakers SUCK in a major way, as is usually the case with slim TVs

3. Not iPhone, iPad or iPod compatible for audio, video or podcast playback.

4. Skype requires an EXPENSIVE webcam from Sony that is not, as far as I am aware, available anywhere - the TV is not UVC compatible!

5. Sony's own on-demand service is overpriced, especially when compared to Netflix.

6. No BBC iPlayer Global support (I am in Canada).

7. Rear inputs flex alarmingly when plugging cables in - how long will they last?

8. The digital output sounds flat and of poor quality compared to other units I have heard.

All in all, I am pleased with this TV, especially as it was around the $800 / £500 mark. It does what it does well, but Sony could have added more without costing more. I'm hoping for software updates in future to address many of the shortfalls of the unit.
