I Have Just Recently Bought The Lg 55le8900 And To
I have just recently bought the LG 55LE8900 and to be honest I am very disappointed. Firstly, I will give the TV some credit, on HD feeds the picture is stunning BUT if you are planning on watching a lot of SD material then you will be extremely disappointed. You can get a better quality SD picture on a budget panel costing £500 or less (and this is after hours of trying to tweak the LG)
Also, this TV does NOT suport avi files with the DTS codec which is a real pain in the backside having to re-convert to AC3 etc. Another gripe when playing movies back from USB is a limitation on what size you can display the movie on the panel i.e. you have 2 choices, 1. Original or 2. Full. If the avi file is not a 1080p then there is no way of filling the screen with the movie.
I have had a play with a few 2010 Samsung panels and they absolutely annihilate this LG panel with support etc. Even the Samsung 3D panels beat this TV on all categories.
I will also mention that the sound quality is also very poor but other reviews on the TV say this.....
One bit of advice - go see this TV before you buy and ask them to show you an SD feed, it is disgraceful for a TV at this price.
