For The Price, I Am Generally Happy With My Toshib

For the price, I am generally happy with my Toshiba 32WLT58 LCD TV, and I have to say it does look good in the corner of my living room.

There are a number of connection options at the back, for example 2 HDMI slots, many more SCART connectors, and PC input etc. So you will not be buying any connection expanders or anything.

The picture is far better when using the integrated digital receiver, and the sound is excellent. The speaker looks almost hidden away at the bottom of the frame, but the sound is by no way compromised.

When watching from a 'normal' distance the picture looks excellent, but the closer you get you really notice some pixelation. When watching certain broadcasts such as Smallville on E4, you do notice some larger elements of pixelation if you watch closely (i.e. look for it), but I guess this is more to do with the broadcast itself. On DVD's this is not evident.

All in all I am very pleased with the purchase. I was toying with spending a couple of hundred more for the Sony Bravia, but I opted for this one and I don't regret the purchase.

The Picture On The Toshiba 32wlt59 Lcd Tv Is Not A

The picture on the Toshiba 32WLT59 LCD TV is not as good as the Philips pixel plus CRT it replaced; but I didn't expect it to be. For a modestly priced LCD the picture is excellent. Sound is good too. But why is there no intelligent widescreen option in digital mode? With 4:3 broadcasts you get a square in the centre of the screen. You can stretch this, but only in the crude way early widescreen TV's did. You have several picture resizing options when viewing analogue, or through the EXT's. And why is there no programme sorting in digital mode? The only quick way to access channels is to memorize the programme numbers.

Since buying the Toshiba I watch TV through my Sony DVD recorder, which renders the television's digital tuner redundant. I could have bought an analogue TV and saved myself some money!

Firstly, I Would Point Out That I Went To My Local

Firstly, I would point out that I went to my local Comet store to see all the LCD TV's I was interested in running side by side, and I can quite honestly say that I was not impressed with any of the pictures these TV's were displaying. It was only when I went to my local Independent retailer who had them set up correctly, was I knocked out by the incredible picture the Toshiba 32WLT58 was displaying. Stupidly Places like Comet don't bother setting the displays up properly, and the TV's all seem to share the RF feed, making the picture quality pretty poor. I ended up purchasing the 32WLT58 from the Toshiba outlet at Cheshire Oaks. I paid £849 (£400 cheaper than Comet), and I can quite honestly say that if I had paid the £1249 for it, I would have been pleased.

The picture quality is incredible, and the SRS WOW sound is deep and clear. When you plug the TV in, you get a welcome screen thanking you for purchasing the TV, and it asks if you want to set it up. When you press enter, all you have to do is sit there and watch the TV sort through the Analogue channels and place them in the right order, then the same again for the integrated Digital Receiver. The connections are well set out with 2 HDMI sockets, making it future proof for 2 HD devices to be connected. The remote is uninspiring. It would have been nice to have a metal one rather than plastic, but it makes it cheaper to replace should it get lost. I was most impressed with the picture quality on Digital, as a few other sets I had looked at had some pixelating, but there was none at all on this set, and the sound was rich but deep.

I would recommend this TV to anyone. Well done Toshiba!
