Sony Bravia KDL-40V3000

Although I was happy with tv at first, I didn't like the way it shows dark scenes in movies and I was very disappointed when the HDMI circuit stopped working. Expected better from Sony

I purchased the KDL-40V3000 via a friend who worked for Sony at Basingstoke. The TV was fine for 2 years, but got very hot. Anyway, we dealt with that but around the 3rd year of ownership it developed a shadow to the top left, which has slowly crept right across the screen. I contacted Sony Customer Services and was rather impolitely told that there was nothing they could do about it as it was outside of the warranty. This fault lies within the quality of the LCD panel and is a fault that many other people have had with this model.

Branded LCD TV are good but imitation LCD TV is a big no no. According to a post in reviewsofwebsites.com, a lot of people were tricked in buying imitation LCD tvs with the same brand name. Same physical feature. I think they copied exactly the whole thing. For me, imitations should be banned so no one will be tricked again.

My Sony Bravia KDL-40V3000, is just under three years old and has been fine up until I noticed a thin grey line going down the screen and with certain backgrounds on the screen there are a few more less pronounced lines, I looked on the internet and found that this is quite a common problem, one site has 75 people with the same complaint and the solution is to replace the screen which would cost more than a new TV, I have contacted Sony and they want me to put the TV into a Sony repair centre, they want to send an engineer to my house which will cost me £40, if he takes it to his repair centre it will cost a further £96, after that all parts will be extra and I am told that a new screen would cost over £1000, Sony say that they are not aware of this problem and therefore will not call back these sets but even with the internet sites that I gave them, they still say that they know nothing of the screen problem, my only option is to buy a new set because if I pay them the £136 for them to check it out and they say that a new panel is needed, I will just lose my £136, I would rather put that towards a new TV but it certainly will not be a Sony, if you want to check the complaints sites, just type into your browser "dark lines on sony bravia lcd tvs" and see for yourself, I am very dissapointed with the outcome of this purchase, I purposly bought a Sony because it was supposed to be one of the top companies, making the best TV sets, I would certainly have expected much more than three years from what is quite an expensive TV, I bought it for its high definition but I am certainly not getting that now, although it is not a throw it away problem, the lines are very distracting and not what I want to see on my TV.

Overall, the Sony Bravia KDL 40V3000 is a great tv... I had it for a couple of months now and so far so good... sony always delivers the goods

The Sony Bravia KDL 40V3000 picture is simply stunning compared to my old crt television, The colours seem so natural plus the bravia engine removes all the video noise making even SD tv look awesome. Getting the best picture was really easy, there are enough option the satisfy anyone.

The Sony Bravia KDL 40V3000 has been much hyped and I was as excited as I was worried when I ordered it. Like all of the Sony Bravia range this lives up to the good looks and often looks more expensive and stands out as a classy piece of kit in most front rooms. As for the image it gives I have to say it is flawless especially when watching BBC HD channel on Virgin + Box. Also the picture is outstanding when playing on our XBox 360. The sound is also good and I don't feel the need to set up the surround sound as the quality is so good. Overall this is a fantastic TV based both on price and performance I know there more expensive ones out there but this has to be one of the best.
