My Old Bulky Much Loved Jvc Parted Ways With The W

My old bulky much loved JVC parted ways with the world this week.

It did all that was required of it for many years. RIP!

I went looking around for something affordable, user friendly and with the requirements I needed.

I have discovered that buying a TV is now not 'just buying a TV' as there's a fair amount to be considered in your choices.

It's a bit of a minefield until you figure it out!

I don't have a ariel where I live (maisonettes) and we have no freeview as yet so I have to go cable and use Virgin Media. I have gone down to the option on VM where all I pay for is broadband. (If you are an existing customer you can go back to the lower than basic package which costs you nothing and still has plenty of channels).

So for a new TV I needed to be able to plug in my VM box, DVD player and an old video recorder I have.

After a lot of searching online I went for the Hannspree SJ28DMBB.

Admittedly currently the VCR is not plugged in, I rarely use it but for this TV I just need to buy a new DVD player which won't cost the earth and I am in no rush for that.

So, the minefield of TV's! You need scart sockets for existing equipment such as the VM box and any other player. It's also wise to opt for some HDMI sockets as well.

^^^^as you can tell I'm new to all of this!

The Hanspree SJ28DMBB has two Scart sockets and also two HDMI, it also has pc sockets too.

I found and ex-display model at a bargain price too but it usually retails at around £230. Compared to my old JVC which cost around £600 about 14 years ago I have to say that the Hannspree is very good for the price! I did expect it to be cheaper looking and sounding..but it's just not!

Incredibly easy to set up.

It was plug in, switch on and go before I had to set anything pretty much.

The picture is good.

I'm currently still playing with the sound and tweaking it but sound is pretty important to me and it's just a case of adjusting til I get it right for me.

It's slim, doesn't weigh a tonne and looks good.

I am very impressed so far!
