The Dmtech Dml-4117wd Is A Rather Expensive Lcd Tv

The DMTECH DML-4117WD is a rather expensive LCD TV! The idea of having an on-board DVD is good, as long as it works. My DVD'S keep getting stuck. I had to take the back off to sort the problem out. That was about four months ago, and the DVD has now suddenly stopped working altogether, and I can't find a contact number for D M Tech.

The Remote Control Has To Be Exactly Inline With T

The remote control has to be exactly inline with the sensor on the television, or it will not work. With other appliances I can bounce the infra red off walls all around the room, but with this you need telescopic sight to aim correctly.

I took my television back to Comet and demonstrated the problem, but it was clear from the moment I walked into the store that I would not get any help or a refund/exchange. The staff at Comet were very unhelpful, and they quoted me the riot act about the law, and said that other stores would not give a refund for an intermittent fault, as they said it was because I was not pressing the buttons correctly.

Does anybody know where I can go on a course to learn how? They are not technically minded, would not listen to any logical faulting technique, and kept repeating it was me not pressing the buttons correctly!

Looking on the internet, I noticed that Argos have a no quibble 16 day money back offer, and Currys and Miller Brothers offer similar after sales terms.

So, unless you like having arguments with people who are determined not to help you, and have no technical expertise what so ever, I would not recommend Comet.

The Problem Of Dead Pixels With These Dmtech Scree

The problem of dead pixels with these DMTECH screens has obviously been a major one because you can now pick up dead pixel sets from discount electrical retailers for about half price - and they don't seem to be in short supply!

This is how I purchased one, and I have to say the single bright-green dead pixel is barely noticable from a sensible TV viewing distance, but if I was using the set as a computer monitor, it would be very annoying indeed. I certainly would not expect to find any dead pixels (as a previous reviewer did) if I had paid full price.

Picture quality from a digital input source is not bad, but the onboard terrestrial TV tuner can produce quite fuzzy images, even in strong signal areas.

The speakers are tinny and have poor bass, but the sound produced is clear.

The built in DVD player is simple to use and has all the features you would expect. It can also play MP3 music CD's and JPEG images.

Overall, I would not pay full price for one of these, but if you don't mind a dead pixel and can pick one up for £230-£250 then go for it.

I'd recommend for playing DVD's from the built-in player, or watching TV from a digital input source.

I would not recommend for use with a PC, analogue input sources, or where sound with a decent level of bass is required.

I Bought A Dm Tech For My Wife's Birthday. It Woul

I bought a DM Tech for my wife's birthday. It would not Tune in. I took it back to Comet where they managed to get it to tune with a very poor picture so told me to go home and try again. To cut along story short I couldn't get it to tune in my house or my neighbours but could through a video player and at my mothers house who was tuned to a different signal to me. I took it back to Comet who were extremely unhelpful and after a long heated row said they would only take it back at a reduced rate because it was now second hand. I stormed out of the shop and the next day phoned the DMTECH technical line who told me it was because I had a poor signal. I borrowed my mothers LCD TV to try and got perfect reception. In the end I took the TV to a diferent branch and told them it just didn't work and managed to get a refund. Basically don't shop at Comet because they flaunt the trading standard laws to the full.

Brought One Of These Just After Christmas, Got It

Brought one of these just after christmas, got it back home plugged it in and it worked like a dream. Sound quality was really good and so was the image quality. Until about a week later when the back light went on it, so the thing died. Took it back to Comet who replaced it with another one, but the screen image was a yellow colour, and also the sound was very bad on it. In the end we took that one back and got a full refund. Can't fault Comet they were very helpful, but I wouldn't buy a DMTech TV again.. maybe it was a poor batch.

I Bought This Product One Week Ago On Christmas Ev

I bought this product one week ago on Christmas Eve as a gift. I was looking for a reasonably priced small LCD screen, with two scart sockets for use with Playstation 2 and a DVD player.

I couldn't find one, so the sales assistant recommended the DMTECH DML-4117WD with an integrated DVD and one scart socket.

Initially I was worried about the brand as I had never heard of DMTECH before. The sales assistant assured me there were no reported problems with the products.

The television was obviously faulty from the moment it was switched it on. There are a few pixels in the middle of the screen that are permanently bright pink. In relation to size of the screen it is very noticeable. The rest screen is very dark, despite efforts to change the settings with the remote control. For £500 the lack sharpness, brightness or colour is awful. This was very embarrassing over Christmas as the recipient of the gift had nothing to play new PS2 games on (without taking over the main family TV).

Comet refused to give me a refund or exchange because I admitted the product had been opened and switched on! I was told that nothing could be done in store. I have to call the manufacturer to get it repaired! I don't want a repaired DMTECH product as I now have no confidence in them whatsoever.

I complained that I had only had it a week and considering that included Christmas holidays this was a reasonable amount of time to request a refund or exchange for a product fit for purpose. They just wanted me out of the shop as quickly as possible with no apology for all the inconvenience caused. Despite the fact that I have a receipt and the TV is in the exact condition I bought it in, one week ago (with all the packaging and protective film still on the screen). So I'm writing to Trading Standards.

Please be warned DMTECH televisions are a terrible waste of money. If mine was faulty from the moment it was switched on, the durability has to be in serious doubt. I will be researching my purchases in future by reading independent reviews as my mistake has cost me £500.

I will also never be shopping at Comet again as their refund policy on faulty goods is illegal according to Trading Standards.

As the law states, if a product breaks down within the first 6 months it is deemed not to have been working correctly at point of sale. The seller has the right of trying to repair the item twice. If unsuccessful then a replacement or refund is applicable.

Comet were very wrong to tell the buyer what that as the item has been out of the box they cannot take it back, how else do you know whether a product is faulty - der !

I read these stories so many times and it makes me furious the way traders flout the trading laws. Every time I have something I want to return I take the rule book with me and shove it in their face if they argue. One guy at Currys I had to threaten personally with legal action because I could see he knew the law and was "trying to get one over me" and I wasn't having it.

Dear Nic79,

Obviously Comet has given you the wrong information about the returns policy on DMTECH products. All DMTECH products carry a 28 days DOA policy, ie if the product is faulty within the first 28 days you will be able to get it swapped with a brand new one.

If you still have the unit, please contact DMTECH's warranty centre as follows:
