I Was Impressed Enough By This Tv To Buy It And Al
I was impressed enough by this TV to buy it and although the picture quality is generally good I could not live with the picture defect mentioned in the bad points. Toshiba swapped the TV twice but all three sets had the same defect. Initially Toshiba claimed the fault was caused by me having the TV too close to a radiator but then admitted the problem is with the TV tube itself and cannot be rectified. But to Toshibas and Robertons (the retailer) credit they did agree to refund me fully.
Watch out because this problem also exists, although more subtlely, with their latest 36" TV - the 36ZP38. A real shame becuase in all other respects, including other aspects of the picture these TVs are excellent.
It seems to be a problem with all Tosh 36 inchers.

Very interesting review. Iam about to buy a new widescreen tv and was considering the 32zd26. Is this problem you described only present on the 36" model, or on all screen sizes?
Jok
This is exactly what I was worried about. I have the same problem and have been told the same story by Toshiba. PRCdirect who supplied it told me to contact a particular individual at Tosh who is apparently responsible for handling these complaints. I have an engineer (independent) coming to see the screen this week and it sounds like I'm going to have the same result - at least I'm not alone!

I Bought This Toshiba 36zd26p Set To Replace A Bro
I bought this Toshiba 36ZD26P set to replace a broken two year old Phillips 32 inch box. After much deliberation on whether or not to risk another Phillips TV I plumped for the Toshiba. (Phillips and Toshiba appear to have the best picture quality around at the moment).
The set is extremely large and heavy (72kg). But once set up it blends into the room well and after only a month of owning the set it appears smaller than my old 32 inch. The set comes with three Scart sockets, and component video input. Ideal if you have a Toshiba DVD player. Sound is Nicam only and perfectly acceptable. When buying a TV of this size, most people will own a separate 5.1 system.
The remote control is well laid out and simple to use and text has a good memory with the ability to flick between pages.
The picture quality of the TV is outstanding, DVD movies come to life on this set, the quality of the tube combined with the picture size makes movies fun. Whites and reds are well produced and blacks are ultra solid. The set does show some of the limitations however of Sky Digital and some digital blocking is evident. Three 100Hz modes help get a good picture even through digital and sports loose little in quality in the 100Hz settings. For USA DVD's this set also has 50Hz Progressive Scan.
As other reviewers have mentioned the Toshiba does come with a buzz from the back of the set. However this is barely noticable, only at very low volumes, I would not consider this to be distracting and I have only noticed it when directly around the TV. Given the size of the set, you are never likely to be close enough to notice it when watching regular TV.
This appears to be one of the lowest priced 36 inch sets on the market at the moment at £1400. It is still a lot of money to pay but well worth it for the ultimate home cinema experience.
