Ok, So I Decided A Few Months Ago To Get A New Tv.

OK, so I decided a few months ago to get a new TV. 21" is no good especially as it is not widescreen. So I approached my local HI-FI dealer and they immediately showed me this set. Now this was considerably more than I was willing to spend on a new TV, but that picture richness had me hooked. I ordered one and then waited for its delivery.

On getting it home I was greeted with the minor task of putting it together. Word of Warning this is a hefty TV, get someone to help you with it. Once on its stand the first task was to tune it in. At this point we were using a small portable ariel and received mediocre picture. A few days later we had our proper aerial installed, we live in a weak reception area (Lincolnshire in general) our aerial installer came round and gave my TV a sniff, "this is one of those DV3 boxes then, I'm gonna have trouble getting any digital reception for you". After installing a medium gain ariel he was forced to eat those words. The Sony digital tuner picked up all the free digital channels and the registered all the pay per view ones. In fact he was so impressed he said he would consider buying one of these for hs own home!

Once installed that night Jurassic park was on BBC1 and it proved to be a good work out for my TV, the picture was at all points razor sharp and the sound was very good (especially the bit with T-Rex). However whilst watching a program on polar bears I was adjusting a plant near the TV and as I passed in front of it I noticed a thin black line running left to right across the TV screen. Although not visible from beyond 1 foot away there it was. (I should add at normal viewing distances this cannot be seen) I rang the Sony help line (Got through v quickly) and was informed this is what was holding in the trinitron mask like on their monitors.

However it has been faultless since installation and worth every penny. One criticism though, instead of using a Sony only plug to connect the surround sound speakers in a set of spring clip terminals would be better to fit better quality speaker cable!
