I Am Very Disappointed In My Philips 28pw6720d/05

I am very disappointed in my Philips 28PW6720D/05 widescreen TV as I expected good things of it. So far I haven't been back to Currys, but I feel that I will be doing so very soon, as the set is so unreliable. The fact that the digital side goes, also means that it is impossible to tape anything.

Has any one of you tried using a Virgin media box being connected to this TV?? If so do you experience the same problem of the digital channels flickering??

It's just that I am thinking of purchasing this TV!!

Philips Cannot Fix The Problems With Our Philips 2

Philips cannot fix the problems with our Philips 28PW6720D/05, it is a design fault I understand. So through the retailer concerned, Comet, they offered us a refund providing we bought a substitute product. We did and we chose Panasonic instead.

That really is good news and I'm glad to see someone coming out on top for a change, for there's so many horror stories on Review Centre. I trust your replacement will be reliable and give you joy.

From your nom de plume I suspect you have a certain interest so I'll take a chance and wish you 73s OM es gud DX!

Hi Bertie

You are quite right and that is what is am getting in effect. I need to buy a replacement product and I am getting the full amount I paid for the Philips TV back including the delivery cost. The money received (as a voucher) is being spent on a more expensive LCD model from a different manufacturer. So in effect I've had 6 months use of the Philips product for nothing. The Philips started going faulty about 3 months ago.

So it seems that Philips are flogging TVs with design faults then.

If that's the case, then surely you are entitled to a full refund under the Sale of Goods Act - fitness for purpose and so forth.

I didn't know any refund was conditional on purchasing another product.
