Humax Foxsat Hdr500-g

Excellent value freesat box with large 500gb storage fro recording. Simple to install and use.

We searched on line and then went directly to Humax direct and bought a special offer "graded" product which has been absolutely perfect.

Excellent service & quick delivery at cheaper than I could find anywhere else.

Humax Foxsat Hdr 1tb Freesat Hd Digital Tv Recorder

Upgraded from our old Humax freesat receiver. Decided to go for the 1Tb option and purchased from Amazon. Delivered promptly, set up just the same as old box, which I think is pretty easy. The old remotes work too!

I'd had a satellite firm upgrade my dish lnb from one channel to four, running an extra cable to my living room so that I have twin channels to record/watch.

Electronic Programme Guide is a doddle and recording choices are easy to make. So far it's been a breeze to use, recording series with no hassle. Recordings are easy to access.

For the £270 I paid it should have WiFi as standard. I bought a homeplug network duo for £30 and this gives easy access to my internet router. The newer version of the box, which is un-reviewed so far, allows WiFi access but only if you buy a £30 dongle for it! Pointless!

Waste Of Money

Bought foxsat hdr 2 years and 1 month ago, started to suddenly stop working saying no signal, rang humax who were aware of the problem told me to do a factory reset which I did and has made no difference. As out of warranty they now dont want to know. Something this expensive should last longer than this. save your money buy something else.

I Have Owned This For Over A Year Having Been Very

I have owned this for over a year having been very pleased with my previous Humax Freeview PVR. First things first, the box is incredibly easy to set up and get working, recording programs either from the EPG or simply pressing the record button works well as does the pausing live TV. The picture quality in HD is fantastic and for good for standard definition Freesat channels. It is lacking some feature like PIP and is slow to boot up. It worked well for about 12 months apart from the 'locking up' which occurred on a fairly regular basis - and Humax must know about this as there is an option on their customer care line dedicated to this. It is remedied either by removing the batteries from the remote and discharging any residual charge or unplugging and plugging back in. However after about 10 months this became quite regular and after a while it would not restart unless it was turned on and off several times. Humax were pretty good and replaced it with a reconditioned one as it was out of warranty, however the hard drive in this did not function properly - would not always record, would not pause live TV when it did record the recording either would not play all the way through or lost the picture. I am giving up with Humax and buying the more expensive Panasonic PVR with built in Blu Ray recorder.

My experience is very disappointing and would not buy another one.

Ease of Use

Very Easy To Set Up, Very Much Plug And Play. Epg

Very easy to set up, very much plug and play. EPG is easy to navigate, and the Genre option is good for find stuff in a hurry. Picture quality for SD is good, and HD very good, Only down side not enough HD yet. Recordings Menu is good, I love the way it puts programs into their own folders, makes finding programs very easy. Saw a few people complaining about the remote, but I havn't had any issues with it.

Had This Humax Foxsat-hdr For Awhile Now And Find

Had this Humax Foxsat-HDR for awhile now and find it very easy to use, bought mine along with the satellite dish

Installing this receiver is incredibly easy to do and is great for people who arn't very good with technology, the features on the foxsat are excellent and it is incredibly easy to set programmes to record.

Some of the menus and some of the manual is confusing. The machine sometimes freezes up and has to be restarted by pulling out the mains plug. Somtimes it just seems to have frozan up because when using the remote; it is easily possible to accidently and unknowingly press the "TV" button instead of, or in addition to, the "Power on" button. However; despite these minor shortcomings; I rate it at 90%.

I Should First Point Out That The Humax Foxsat-hdr

I should first point out that the Humax FOXSAT-HDR is not a DVD player (contrary to the category that this website has listed it in). It is in fact a Freesat+ PVR Digital Receiver. The Humax FOXSAT-HDR Freesat+ High Definition Receiver is the first Freesat PVR twin tuner 320GB hard drive receiver from Humax, for use on the Freesat satellite television platform. I installed the FOXSAT-HDR after I had four Sky+ HD boxes that consistently failed one after the other. If you have an existing dual LNB satellite dish, this box is so easy to set up. All you do is connect it to your existing satellite cables, then connect it to your HD TV via HDMI and then follow the on-screen set-up wizard to tune all the TV channels. It really is that easy. Note: If you don't have an existing satellite dish, you can have one installed by your local Freesat retailer. This box is much slimmer than the Sky+ HD box and it is packed with a lot more useful functions too. It has a tinted perspex front panel, which discretely hides the navigation buttons and within it is the very latest PVR technology with 320GB hard drive, allowing for approx 160 hours of standard-definition recordings; 80 hours in high-definition.Dual tuners allow for very similar functionality as Sky+, minus the subscription costs. You can record one channel whilst watching/recording another, or even record two channels whilst playing back a previously recorded programme. Couple this with the high resolution EPG, and setting up to record couldn ' t be easier. This is a very good quality piece of kit (take note Sky - this how it should be done) and I don't regret ditching Sky and moving to Freesat at all. Granted, Sky has a lot more HD channels, but I think Freesat will catch up and the great thing about the Humax FOXSAT-HDR box is that it actually makes watching and recording digital HD TV a joy (not a frustration like Sky+ HD). I wholeheartedly recommend the Humax FOXSAT-HDR Freesat+ High Definition Receiver/PVR - really is an excellent piece of equipment.
