Reasonably Good Value At £30 From Argos. Eas

Reasonably good value at £30 from Argos. Easy to set up. The Durabrand set top boxes from Asda have identical handsets so I suspect they have Hitachi innards, but are a lot slower and are half the price. Very fast EPG. Fibre optic sound connection.

But this is now my third Hitachi HDB73 box in 3 weeks. First two (serial number begins 9030xxxxxx) crash and reboot when using teletext on ITV1 (Ch3) for less than 3 minutes.

Picked A Hitachi Hdb73 Up For £30 From Argos

Picked a Hitachi HDB73 up for £30 from Argos. Excellent value for money. Easy to set up, remote is quick, and the picture from my 22" monitor via HDMI looks great. Separate audio RCA jacks for the audio as well, which is useful when your monitor HDMI input is video only.

The 720p upscaling really does make a difference, especially when the source material is good. BBC1 documentaries look great upscaled. Some of the lower bandwidth channels not quite as good.

Not quite the same as HD of course, but very good.

Can't really fault it -excellent!

Hitachi Hdb73, This Is Basically An Expensive Run

Hitachi HDB73, this is basically an expensive run of the mill freeview box. The socalled upscaling makes no difference at all infact i thought the pic was slightly worse through hdmi than my normal ariel !

low volume even on max.

upscaled pic is no better than sd
