Bought One Of These Truvox Dvd-600 Dvd Players Tod

Bought one of these Truvox DVD-600 DVD Players today on recommendation from a review in a home entertainment magazine. It doesn't work at all. The display says to load a DVD even when there is already one in there and then makes a terrible grinding noise, meanwhile the TV screen indicates that something is loading and then just hangs. So I'm afraid I haven't even got as far as being able to comment on picture quality. Probably just unlucky, but it's put me off so it goes back tomorrow and I get a different make!

I Actually Owned One Of These Players For About 4

I actually owned one of these players for about 4 months until I decided to call it a day and get rid.

The overall picture quality was good and the colours seemed vibrant and certainly impressed for the price. (£100) They looked superb on my 32" television. Multiregion was also not a problem and I managed to run all the Region 1 dvd's in my collection.

Sound when fed through an amp was a great improvement over the standard TV, which required the volume up to a high level to get a decent sound.

The main reason I decided to move to another DVD was the layer changes during movies. All my movies had pausing to various levels of severity. The longest being 15 seconds during a layer change. For any DVD player in 2003 you expect better.

The build quality was also extremely low and there was a feeling that the front of the case might fall off at any moment if you picked up the player. There seemed to be too much "give" on the front, it just didn't feel a quality product.

The remote control was poorly set out and I don't know why they put the buttons in such unusual locations. There is a feeling that the designer was having a bad day when he designed this panel.

Overall it's not too bad value for £100 but there are much better players out there for a comparible price.

I Dont Know If It Is Just My Truvox Dvd-600 Dvd Pl

I dont know if it is just my Truvox DVD-600 DVD player, but everytime the layer changes on the disc i get a 10 second delay!!

I have tried this on different discs and get the same conclusion i.e magnolia, amores perros etc

Also the reaction time when pressing the fwd or search buttons seems to be very slow - i can go and watch another film while i'm waiting! But i don't know if this is just my player or is it common?

I bought the Truvox as a cheap second player, but found it to be slow to do just about everything you asked it to, taking sometimes up to 30 seconds just to accept a disc. It was replaced a few weeks later by a faultless Sony instead!

hi my truvox freezes too, sometimes once, could be up to three or four times during a film, it's really annoying. Can't really comment on fastforward, rewind speed don't use it, but whoever designed the remote control was definately having a laugh, confusing, awkward are some of the more polite ways of describing its layout.....

Exclusive To Debenhams Stores, This Player Clocks

Exclusive to Debenhams stores, this player clocks in at a paltry £100, which isn't going to break the bank.

Easy to set up (plug in supplied scart and power and go), the picture quality is super sharp and non of the dvd's I threw at it showed any pixelation or artifacts. Phantom menace pod race was sweet, and the fights in crouching tiger were flawless.

Colour handling was also fanstatic. Will also play single layer DVD-R's without a problem.

The problems start with the sound. Which is pretty low, but jacking the tv volume up sorts that out.

The reason I'm not keeping mine is the intermitent pausing.

the player will hold a shot for a second then play on.

it has done this on every disk I've played so far.

Generally I agree with review.

Sound output level is low when fed via SCART socket either direct into TV or via VCR (pretending to be 'Satellite'). It is plenty loud enough when stereo audio fed into hi-fi amplifier, however.

Mechanical construction shows cost-cutting, but that's OK for £99. Multi-region hack not yet tested.
