I Had Been Looking For A Decent Multi Region Dvd P
I had been looking for a decent multi region dvd player for a long time when I found the SVA D-2008. I was impressed by the price and the features but what really sold it to me was the customer reviews it had recieved. I'v now had my dvd a couple of days and all I can say is it the best money I'v ever parted with! One particular earlier review described the function of switching between PAL and NTSC (PAL for region 2 dvds and NTSC for region 1). Now I was not to sure if my TV was capable of NTSC playback as its at least 5 years old. However, I just pluged in the scart lead to the back of my TV and it played the region 1 dvd fine- I did find the above function through playing with the remote control ;-) and it seemed that the dvd player was set on PAL when I recieved it, so I switched to NTSC and I got the usual rubbish black and white picture that is commonly described when playing region 1 dvds, so I quickly switched back to PAL.

Well, What Can I Say, I Spent Weeks Trying To Sear
Well, what can I say, I spent weeks trying to search the net for a sub-£100 DVD player. I had over 15 to choose from, and for some reason I chose the SVA-2008, but,I am glad I did. For £89 inc postage (at time of writing) it is a total bargain. Sure, I am sure other sub-£100 ones are too, but I can't comment for them. Anyway, I tried a VCD, SVCD, Region 1 DVD, etc etc and it played them all without any hacks needed. Also it has a NTSC to PAL convertor, which was essential for me to play R1 discs as I have a 7 year old TV. Long and short of it is, I can seriously recommend this DVD player, it does everything you could possible need it to. Only flaw is the remote control, which is a litle big and tacky feeling, but then, it does what it is supposed to and it is also very clear to see button names.
I am shocked I am the first to review, I wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing before I purchased the unit. Anyway, I am glad I bought it, top marks from me !!
Has anyone got the microphones to play back through their tv? I'm starting to think that you need more than just a scart lead.
I have just recently purchased the SVA D-2008 DVD player and it does play DVD-R, Region 1 DVD's, everything. For £69.99 from Amazon (including delivery) what a bargin.
Highly recommended!!!
Hi, Could someone confirm whether this player plays back DVD +RW and DVD +R, thanx
I'm currently using the SVA D 2008 with dvd r with no problems................
The person who wrote the review states that no matter what disk he tried in the sva 2008 it played it. Well I can definatly state it will not play any dvd r or dvd wr disks in either + or -format. I own such a player and when I try any of the 2 types above all I get is disk incompatible.
but it will play all other formats.
