Apart From The Lack Of 5.1 Decoding, A Very Solid
Apart from the lack of 5.1 decoding, a very solid player with first rate picture quality and would give even the best £400 cd player a run for its money for cd playback. one thing i've never understood is that it has all the hallmarks of the high-end Sony ES range with the black feet, the gold finish and even the internal components not to mention the build quality but never bore the ES badge.

Plays Dvds Straight Away. Super Build Q
Plays DVDs straight away.
Super build quality.
Same footprint as Sony's top of the range VHS (manufactured some 5-6 years later) so look great stacked - Even the jog dial and jog LED's match - Nice.
Paid 50quid second hand - What a bargain!
I have always bought Sony - If you are looking for a top of the range old model then seek this one out.

The Sony Dvp-s715 Dvd Player Has An Excellent Pict
The Sony DVP-S715 DVD player has an excellent picture but no zoom. Very awkward use of file/directory location of MP3s if not using the TV. Should scroll the directory/song at the unit without having to go to remote and press text.

The Sony Dvp-s715 Was One Of The First Uk Players,
The Sony DVP-S715 was one of the first UK players, it was a top of range machine and was well made. It has got twin SCART and passes RGB through.
It got very mixed reviews but is generally accepted to be one of the best early UK players.
It plays most discs without problems but is very sensitive to bad pressings, it has similar tolerances to Pioneer players, they play up on titles some other players will not, this has always been fixed by swapping for another copy.
Speed of operation is good draw close to play in about 2 seconds, layer changes are quick.
