What Can I Say Great Picture And Sound, Reads All

What can I say great picture and sound, reads all media from cdr to dvd+r and has no problems with vcds and svcds. The one I got was a later one which has a better loader than the earlier ones so I've not had any problems. I upgraded the firmware for macrovision free and its also been upgraded for multiregion. Absolutely superb. Sadly I don't use it so much now as I have a samsung home cinema system but if someone wants a copy to vhs or I've got a tricky disc that the samsung won't read the sharp always saves the day. The player is actually made by sampo.

I Purchased The Sharp Dv740s At The Local Media Ma

I Purchased the Sharp DV740S at the local Media Market for 139.00 Euros about a month ago. The Region Hack found on this site worked perfectly. PAL DVD Playback on PAL TV and NTSC DVD Playback on NTSC TV works well. However conversion of a PAL DVD or NTSC DVD to the opposite standard TV shows some delay and jumping of the picture. Not real bad but noticable. Also , the unit is 220 V only.

The hack is on www.area450.com in the Sharp 740s section. Just download and follow the instructions. If you are not Computer Savy you may need some help to burn the CD.

viki.

could you tell me where you found the hack for the sharp 740 please?

Malibu Mike.

I opened up the DV740S and determined that it will take multivoltages. I then plugged it into a 220V to 110 Volt transformer and it worked fine. So, my previous comment about it not being able to take multivoltages was wrong. Sorry about that.

The Dv740h Is A Nice Looking Dvd Player But, Like

The DV740H is a nice looking dvd player but, like Steve, we are also on our 2nd player and are still having problems with skipping/picture freezing. Steer clear.

The freezing/skipping playback is down to a dud batch of SL101H DVD loaders that Sampo installed on some Sharp DV740Hs. This is an issue that was most prevalent in the DVE611 in the US, but which is being rectified if customers return their players to Sampo America. In the case of us UK customers it's sadly a case of return to vendor. It may be better to obtain a refund, and buy the player from another retailer, as invariably you'll just end up getting a replacement player with a loader that has the same duff qualities.

Cheapest retailer we found at Area 450 (the Sampo fansite : http://www.area450.com ) have come across is probably Empire Direct for £130.

With Its Excellent Sound And Picture Quality, This

With its excellent sound and picture quality, this unit holds its ground with more established makes.

Officially, the unit is a REGION-2 player. I am pleased, however, to inform you that the link below has information on how you can modify your Sharp 740H DVD player to multi-region.

http://www.totaldvd.net/news/frame.html?http://www.totaldvd.net/cgi-bin/news.pl?search_for=1008934139

All that you need to do is download a text file and burn it to a CD-R. All the details are included on the website. Please note that you will need to switch your player off/on again to enable your CD-R to be read.

I tried it and the unit now plays Region 1 DVDs.

Agree with Andy. Hack was successful and it's performance is great.

NO skipping, pausing, freezing in both region 1 and 2 DVD types

I tried 2 of these Sharp dvd players and were hopeless at dealing with the slightest defect in a DVD. They constantly paused/skipped/crashed completeley - Avoid.
