Before You Consider Buying A Scan-2500 Dvd Player

Before you consider buying a Scan-2500 DVD player I would strongly advise you to check out the Scan-2500 news group here,

there are plenty of decent players available that are reviewed on this site that will give you less trouble, yes you may get a duff machine but not as many as the Scan-2500 seem's to sell

When You Buy This Scan Sc-2500 Dvd Player At First

When you buy this Scan SC-2500 DVD player at first you think that you have got a bargain. Then you notice that it is deteriorating as you are viewing. On some occasions it makes you nervous. It freezes the picture more than 20 times in a whole film. Now it is losing the sound as well. If you put your complaint to the dealer he will naturally claim the fault on the film. Then you will discover that your collection is in excellent condition when testing on JVC, AIWA, SAMSUNG, Panasonic, Hyundai, NAD, Pioneer, Mico and many others. I am very disappointed with the Scan DVD player

I give the Scan SC-2500 DVD player 10 out of 10 for money value and 9 out of 10 as the remote takes off 1 point :)

If you are looking for a high-quality DVD player but don't have much to spend, get this - you won't be disappointed!

Initial Thoughts When I Opened The Packaging On My

Initial thoughts when i opened the packaging on my Scan SC-2500 DVD player was that it looked for all the world like a top-grade piece of audio/visual hardware.

HOWEVER...

From the outset, this machine was a HUGE letdown. A better picture quality could be found on a vintage 1956 television. The sound wasn't much better.

Over the ensuing months, things are deteriorating faster than i imagined they would.

Overall i would advise anyone who is contemplating buying a SCAN machine to keep their money firmly in his or her pocket.

You lot are all idiots , there is nothing wrong with the Scan DVD player, either i play it back on xbox or scan dvd its still the same picture quality.. also it as optical out for the 5.1 sound, optical is not analoge u idiot..

playing back on a Phillips 28ich widescreen matchline 100Hz...

HI,

the dolby 5.1 output is a joke, unless you happen to have an analogue 5.1 channel audio amp.

then you will get harsh treble and muddy bass out of more speakers :(

look at the 3:2 pulldown its a joke, the mp3 audio quality is at best ferric cassette standard.

shortened useless filenames make mp3 cd's no go

the karaoke function only works on an external amp (might as well buy a karaoke amp then).

The SVCD playback has lots of synch error issues.

The various firmware bugs and updates only confirm its unfitness for purpose. (these do not fix problems tho as no two machines are the same build quality)

I see in the T&cs of this site that swearing is not allowed so assume the word SCAN will get deleted :}

go get a pioneer DV350S it is an excellent machine, stylish and at hifibitz.co.uk its 139.99 (3% cheaper if u look on the web for a voucher).

I did.

Still havent had my refund from scan yet tho.

Cheers

For those who had a disappointing experience with this player, before you junk it, did you

a) ensure it was playing PAL and not trying to encode to NTSC (mine was and degraded any motion on-screen)

b) ensure you take the RGB out

c) make sure "enhance -> sharpen" is selected. This final one is v important. Without it, the video output is fairly limited in bandwidth, with it selected it looks like any excellent DVD player's output!!!

If these were tried and found wanting, fair enough, junk it!! But I thought it was excellent particularly having the 5.1 decoded audio outputs...

I Thought This Scan Sc-2500 Was An Excellent Dvd P

I thought this Scan SC-2500 was an excellent DVD player. I didn't want to invest heaps, and wanted something which could play mp3, DVD, and CD/R/RW. This does all that really well. It could look better but for the money it's an absolute bargain. I don't know of anything else on the market which does what this does, this well, for anything like this price.

If you buy it I don't think you'll be disappointed but make sure you use the RGB outs, select "enhance" and have the menu in "pal" - you really can't go wrong.

I Found The Whole Scan Sc-2500 Dvd Player Experien

I found the whole Scan SC-2500 DVD player experience to be disappointing.

The machine is nicely packaged.....but just lets you down from the moment you plug it in.

To say this is a bean tin with a plug attached would be an under statement !!!

That's all i'm willing to say...

it only upsets me to talk about it...

On The Whole The Scan Sc-2500 Dvd Player Is A Pett

On the whole the Scan SC-2500 DVD player is a petty good unit but it could do with an upgrade to enhance the OSD for Audio CDs and MP3 playback. In my opinion it is pointless connecting an audio player to a TV monitor only to read the track number and length in time or stare at the dynamic freq. spectrum. Some cool visual effects would be a nice bonus.

I went to the review expecting information about, er, well, the quality of the DVD playback, in terms of sound and picture. Instead I was subjected to the grievances of a reviewer who only comments on its shortcomings as a music centre.

Not very useful for someone who comes to the page expecting, not unreasonably, an expert review on the quality of the DVD player AS A DVD player!
