This Pioneer Dv-656a-k Dvd Player Has So Far Taken

This Pioneer DV-656A-K DVD player has so far taken everything I can throw at it (although not yet got a home-made DVD-R to test).

The on-screen menus allow easy set-up of defaults for picture and sound track selection for SACD, DVD-A and such. The rear panel has RGB SCART pass-though, 5.1 component and digital output, S-Video, component and composite video output.

The image quality for DVD video playback to my 36" widescreen TV has been smooth and perfect. It made a great job on SVCD playback from unbranded CD-R, and a data cd with 250 mp3's shows all track and folder names on the screen for easy navigation of some 150 hours of music.

The component audio out is necessary for most DVD-A and all SACD multi-channel material.

At the bargain price this player was bought (340 GBP including VAT and delivery) it's been my best buy in ages.

BEEJAY BHATT.

I have bought one of these players and i have found NO faults with it! I made a home dvd with my apple using idvd and put the movie on a dvd-r which I purchased for 80pence, the dvd played just fine. I found that the player plays both pal and ntsc disks....because I encoded one of the dvds in Ntsc and it would not play on my other dvd player which is a rubbish toshiba jobby. Regards Beejay Bhatt email me if you wish any help with this player.

dvd-r and dvd+r are two formats or methods to record dvds. Most companys use one or the other. I believe sony is still the only maker of dvd writers that does both. (on a pc.) i don't know anything about recorders for stereo systems. I have the dv-656a and absolutely love it. Where i bought it they have all the elite players and couldn't justify more money at all. Not even the 47ai model. Yes maybe the picture is better at certain points but not for 1000 dollars. I paid 180 by the way. Good luck

Hi there, good review by the way. I am looking to buy a dvd player which can play just about everything. I am new to dvds so i am looking around trying to understand the jargan, which is the abreviation for discs that have been recorded from a dvd recorder are they dvd-r (recorded once)and dvd-rw(can be recorded many times)or dvd+r and dvd+rw if not what are they? Could you tell me where you bought it from. I am confused. Please help. Thanx

Both DVD-R and DVD-RW support is excellent.

I have just purchased a DV656A-K. My TV is a LG with Scart and Pr Pb Y connections, which is it preferable to use? Thanks.
