Pioneer DV-454

To my surprise (shock, really) this Pioneer DV-454 DVD Player is very good at audio-CD playback, if allowed to warm up for a few hours and set up with proper cabling, mains conditioning etc. This flies against all conventional wisdom, but as an audiophile I must always believe my ears. Surely this machine is "a bargain the size of a hippo's bum!"

For the little extra money this machine is far better than the supermarket bargains that are around at the moment. The sound reproduction is excellent with clear dialogue and solid bass. Picture cannot be knocked with colours coming through clear and solid. The remote while a little dated looking performs well and is comfortable to hold. The slimline appearance makes the machine look good, for those of you not happy with a silver box, Pioneer also offer this machine in Black.
