Excellent!

I bought this DVD player 15 years ago and it has been wonderful no problems at all, but after 15 years I supposed it gets quite dusted inside and only now a problem with the sound at the start of a movie started. However after 2 minutes it's fine again. Good picture. I have changed 3 times the TV but not my DVD player. Excellent quality and plays all regions. Great value for money I think at the time costed me £80.

By accident my control remote broke a month ago and cannot find a replacement if any body knows pls advice or what is the code for universal remote control because my dvd player still works manually

Thanks a lot

I Bought This 2 Years Ago For Less That £100

I bought this 2 years ago for less that £100 from Richer Sounds (when DVD's usually cost double that) and expected it to have dodgy picture quality and only last 1 day longer than its guarantee. The picture on my 28" w/s tv is excellent with no 'blocking'. It has never failed (even though I dropped it!!). The sound outputs to my 5.1 amp easily but the the sound levels are low. The display is limited to the chapter number only which is basically useless. Very good value from a firm I have never heard of but now proper makes are selling for less than £100 anyway.

I Got This Limit 8080a Dvd Player As Part Of A Pac

I got this Limit 8080a DVD player as part of a package with subwoofer and speakers.

Player and amplifier-subwoofer are separate, meaning two remotes. That means that it is not quite as easy to use as integrated player-amplifiers.

I have tried it for a month, no problems so far.

Picture and sound OK, although I have only tried the composite video.

The amplifier decodes analogue surround (converting 2 into 6 channels), which is handy for cable and satellite films.

Great improvement on built-in-TV sound.

Although the power is limited (50w+5x10w) it seems more than enough for me. I have a small room, I never put it near the max.

It reads audio CDs OK, which was a problem with a very similar cheap player I bought earlier (Lenco).

I also read a CDR full of 200 MP3 tracks, although the interface is a bit poor. File names are chopped off, playlists impossible (I think) and it failed to recognise a couple of tracks. OK if you just stick the CD in and listen sequentially, I suppose.

I only regret I payed a bit more (320 €) than the price in the UK (150£).

Hi I bought this lot end Of Dec 2002 at 175 EUR, essential to have a entry level DVD player that comes with 5 boxes "for free".

It looks a bargain but I wasn't able to get a normal audio CD "fake" 5,1 output. The 5,1 fake output only works for my TV in 2CH. If I select 6CH then audio is only coming out of 1 small box and the SW :-( Any help greatly appreciated.

Also the fact that there is no website for this manufacturer is somehow "creepy" for support but yeah at this price I guess this is part of the package. Several brand names are now also dropping to this price level though.

Wow! What A Buy. I Bought My Limit 8080a Dvd Playe

WOW! What a buy. I bought my Limit 8080a DVD player in November 01 from richer sounds for £89.00 delivered. For that money I though how bad can it be. It has been excellent. The only down side is that it doesn't play SVCD's and the display is a little poor.

The Limit 8080a Dvd Player Is A Dvd/vcd/mp3 Player

The Limit 8080a DVD player is a DVD/VCD/MP3 player with Dolby Digital 5.1 amplifier, subwoofer and 4 speakers, all for a current bargain price under £150 from Richer Sounds. For this price you would expect build quality and performance to be compromised, but this system compares favourably with more expensive low-end systems costing at least £100 more. I find the performance from the DVD player to be excellent considering that it is a budget player - although the feel of the player and its remote is a little lightweight. The player is multiregion with a hack through the remote control but you do need a multi-system TV to get the best from NTSC discs. It also plays MP3s (including 80minute CDS), but as with many other MP3-compatible DVD players it can sometimes be a little fussy about reading some discs (I find it seems to work best when the MP3s are arranged in folders on the CD rather than just placing them all in the root directory).

For me, though, the real star of this package is the audio system. It might be lacking in brute power (which means that for the low sound level from DVDs you need to crank the volume setting up to about three quarters to get a powerful sound), but there is more than enough for a normal living room and what there is good quality. The subwoofer fills the room with a reverberating deep bass, and the surround sound from the satellite speakers is effective. It will also produce a credible pseudo surround sound from a two-channel input (e.g. satellite). The real surprise with the audio system though is the build quality. The combined amplifier/sub-woofer in particular is a substantial affair, with neat beech-type wood side panels around a grey centre, with a substantial heat sink and a very neat black metal back connection panel with quality connectors - no sign of thin chipboard here which you find on the back of a number of other (more expensive) budget systems. Treat the audio remote with great respect though - without it you can not even turn the amplifier on.

As far as a I can tell, the Limit range is exclusive to Richer Sounds. I believe it compares extremely well with more expensive budget systems from the mainstream outlet stores, and at its current price of less than £150 it has to be a bargain, especially at it will also play MP3s. Well worth investigating if you are in the market for a budget DVD Home Theatre system.

I agree but the only downful for me is that you can not turn the power on or off by the remote.

I Bought This Limit 8080a Dvd Player At Christmas

I bought this Limit 8080a DVD player at Christmas 2001 in a package with the Limit JSP200 5.1 Home Theater System from the Richer Sounds website (http://www.richersounds.co.uk). Cost then was £200 and in January this combination was selling for £150 (drat - I should have waited!) so it's cheap. But is it any good? Well, as a newcomer to DVD, I have been very happy with it. The picture is clear, steady and not at all jerky during playback and the sound quality through the JSP200 seems good to me (although I am no video or audiophile). Playback and sound quality seem comparable to DVD/home theater systems my friends and family have and most of them have paid more for the privilege. I've not seen any high end systems to compare it with so I cannot comment on it's overall performance. The only thing I have noticed is that fast forward and reverse is a bit jerky - I don't know if this is normal for DVDs and it doesn't bother me much.

Setting it all up was a doddle - the booklet that came with it is sparse on detail but clear and easy to follow.

Features:

=========

Dolby Digital, DTS digital out, CD compatible, MP3

Front panel:

============

Power, display, remote control sensor, play, pause, stop, skip +/-, open/close.

Note - the front panel on the player doesn't let you move through main menu options so don't lose the remote control!

Rear outputs:

==================

Coax out, 5.1 channel outputs, Euroscart (no RGB), Video output jack.

Multiregion

===========

The DVD supports multiregion with a hack typed into the remote control. The only downside is that if (as I do) you have an older PAL TV then colour playback can be a bit jerky from a Region 1 disk. Use an NTSC compatible TV and this problem apparently goes away (and according to the instruction book you don't need a hack code - I haven't tried this since my TV isn't NTSC compatible).

Remote control:

===============

It is a pity that the same remote cannot work both the JSP200 and the 8080. At the minute it feels like remotes are breeding next to my TV (JSP, DVD, TV, Video, digital set top box, hi-fi - you know the problem) and it's a shame that when, as Limit does, a company sells two items like these as a set that it doesn't combine the two. The home theater remote has far too many functions - IMHO it could have been accomplished with a fraction of the buttons and some more intelligent menus.

Manufacturer

============

I've never heard of Limit before and information on the net is thin on the ground - I recommend a search on Google groups for more detailed information.

You can buy this baby at richer sounds for only £50 now HA HA

Try this at your own risk - I cannot accept responsibility for any problems.

Multiregion:

Press open on remote

type 8421

Current region displayed on screen

"OK" button toggles region (9=all,2=UK (default), 1=US)

Press close

Only need to do it once - it remembers when powered off.

Tested on Region 1 disc.

Supposed to be okay with RCE (may need to select Region 1 rather than 9) but I haven't tested this yet.

I would add that maximum volume on the bundled JSP200 home theatre is not that loud. If you have a large room then perhaps this is not for you. My living room is about 3 metres by 6 metres and even at maximum it is not overpowering. That said it is fine for my listening at about 75%.
