Bought this at the local ASDA... appeared to be the best make from an otherwise nondescript bunch. The most expensive (though not really expensive, in comparison to the prices 3 or 4 years ago). I thought at first that going for a Sony was probably the best option, being a well known brand with a (formerly) good name. What a disappointment! It takes AGES to load a disc, then sometimes stops recording in the middle of a program, saying "Cannot Play This Disc" or some other stupid message. Have always used Sony DVD+RWs, but makes no difference - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Then at other times, when you want to change the disc, it comes up with the message "Info writing" and boy, does it take it's time! 4 minutes, the last time I actually timed it. (What is it supposed to be writing?) Checked the box, to have a look at the "Guarantee". It's not actually a guarantee at all! Just directs you to the Sony regional website, where details of the "guarantee" are supposed to be. But it doesn't give you the address of the website! I rang ASDA, and without any quibbles, they gave me a reference number. I took it back to the local store and got a full refund. Used the money, this time, to buy a nondescript machine... And this one's another story.
