Disapointing Flash Recycle Time
Great little budget SLR for the novice or keen photographer on a budget, It has largely delivered what was expected but the flash leaves a lot to be desired.
I have had continual problems with the flash in low light when the flash will take > 2 minutes to recycle meaning many great shots are lost forever! This seems largely to be related to the autofocus and the flash burst that is used to obtain focus, I have a Speedlite so not all is lost but not always convenient to carrry a flash with me.
I have been so beiwldered in the past but now it all makes sense!

I Bought This Canon Eos 400d Camera Intending To U
I bought this Canon EOS 400D camera intending to upgrade from trusty my Eos350d because it sports a much larger screen for reviewing my photos plus an extra 2 megapixals.I was soon disappointed when I found its shutter delay was nearly half a second which was a lot slower than the 350d's plus while the pics were good they looked poorer when compared to the 350d.So in all fairness I would say that this camera compares well with other slr cameras from the likes of Sony Samsung & Panasonic in the same price bracket though Canon gave themselves a hard act to follow with their own Eos 350d being such a great camera.I have now kept the 350d and sold the 400d

Easy Transfer From Old Analogue Model With All The
Easy transfer from old analogue model with all the extras of digitalisation (does that word exist?). The digital bits are easy to learn and great tools that give effects only available before in the darkroom so adjustments can be made 'on the spot' that couldn't have been done before. 1.6x lens magnification is great for me but might not suit the close-up (macro) shots some people like to take a lot of.
Easy cross-over from analogue. Good sized, high quality prints (no loss at A3 size). Makes a 300mm lens equivalent to full frame 480mm but wide angle len's achieve longer equivalent too. Overall a fantastic tool for the money.

The 18-55mm Lens On The Canon Eos 400d Performs Mu
The 18-55mm lens on the Canon EOS 400D performs much better than I had been led to expect by reviews. The sharp, silky images produced are a significant improvement on the Olympus E400 I previously owned.
I aquired a Tamron 55-200 f4-5.6 from Amazon for a mere £70 and it performs very well in good light.
The software support is the best I have come upon for handling Raw files, though Nikon Pictureproject is still the best for general tweaks to jpegs.

The Canon Eos 400d Is A Great Camera, Easy To Use
The Canon EOS 400D is a great camera, Easy to use with a great auto and manual settings, has a nice len shake effect to get any dust or dirt off the lens and the picture quality is amazing I think 10 mp is way enough for mostly people. This camera is a very good price for what you get.
