The Main Board In My Ricoh Rr30 Digital Camera Bro
The main board in my Ricoh RR30 digital camera broke just as the camera was out of warranty. not amused to find it was going to cost £160 to repair which is more than half the cost of the camera. unhappy that the main part in the camera lasted just over 1 year.

Very Impressed With First Impressions. Batteries
Very impressed with first impressions. Batteries do get eaten up very quickly with flash usage so get the lithium battery. Has a number of firmware upgrades already to fix a few minor probs but all seem to be fixed now. Camera is very quick to take picture with the fastshutter delay so action shots and kids/animal shots are easy to get right without movement of subject:)
This is a brilliant little camera that would suit anyone from 1st time user to a pro user.

This Is The 3rd Digi Camera I Have Had And By Far
This is the 3rd digi camera I have had and by far the best. Flash was a bit on the weakside but a new firmware upgrade sorts that out. colors are very good, very little shutter delay, lightweight, and compact. A very good camera for the price and worth all the money. Recommended for beginners as an upgrade from a 1M or 2Mb pixel camera

I Bought This Camera From Qvc Shopping Channel. No
I bought this camera from qvc shopping channel. No problems with camera, only downside so far is the internal memory with camera which is poor (8mb). Memory cards are expensive at the moment. Read reports that Sandisk cards are a problem with this camera, not recognising the card etc. Believe Panasonic and Toshiba are recommended by Ricoh.
The software has now been upgraded on XP to Allow the usage of Ricoh GateL.
http://www.ricoh.co.jp/r_dc/dc/support/download/softmatch/winxp/RgateXP.html
which gives it a nicer feature then the usual XP camera importing.
Upgrading teh firmware mayhelp with sandisk cards

Several Friends & Colleagues Have Been Getting Dig
Several friends & colleagues have been getting digital cameras over the past few months - I held on until the RR30 came along. It has all the features of more expensive models whilst maintaining simplicity & ease of use. The results are just as impressive. I've had the opportunity to test results in a variety of situations - from kids parties, live sports events, in & outdoor - even getting good pics from our fireworks on Nov 5th! You need to practice a bit with the flash facility otherwise pics can come out with too much contrast or exagerated shadows. This isn't too much of a problem - being digital, just delete & start again! Any queries I've had have been quickly sorted by the Ricoh helpline - very efficient. If you've got the right kit, pics on the highest resolution can be printed up to 800mm x 600mm quite comfortably. If you're looking for a digital camera under £250.00 get a Ricoh RR30 - BRILLIANT!
The weak Flash has been fixed now :
V1.11
* The light intensity of the flash was strengthened somewhat.
* At the time of exposure revision, the light intensity of the flash that tried changes with flash ON.

8.5 out of 10
I got the camera from qvc shopping channel and find it small, light and easy to use. But have since found out there is software to be downloaded from ricoh web site to improve picture quality to eliminate blue tinge around edges of pictures and improved sability at start up, scandisk cards are not cheap a 128mb costs around £76. It has onboard memory 8mb to get you snapping, but for a 3.1 meg camera at a cost of £240 with excellent macro and a fast download to pc I would suggest try before you buy p.s im keeping this camera
