This Olympus C-200 Zoom Was My First Ditital Camer
This Olympus C-200 Zoom was my first ditital camera two years ago. A reliable camera, takes excellent quality pics in HQ mode considering it is only 2.1 megapixels. When using it with XP, downloads are absolutely instant with the usb cable. It's so easy to use, open the lens cover then point and shoot. To view pics its just as easy - push one button and there you have it. Easy timer and video functions as well (no sound though). Only problem I can see is the slow shutter speed which causes trouble when taking pics of kids - you push the button and the kid moves before it gets the picture - but that happens with most digi cameras that I have seen.

It Worked For Two Months. In That Time It Was Bad
It worked for two months.
In that time it was bad, and setting up the picture quility only held for one shot.
After 3 month of hardly ever using it, the camera had stopped working. It was sent to Olympus and was returned after a month only to work for 5 days before returning to it's previous state.
It was sent back two month ago and i am still waiting for it's return.

In Total, I'm Pleased To Recommend The Olympus C20
In total, I'm pleased to recommend the Olympus C200 digital camera to those first time users...... if you would like to take a better quality picture, then buy something which is more than 2.1MP, at least 3MP and above........

I Have Previously Owned An Olympus C960 Zoom And S
I have previously owned an Olympus C960 zoom and suffered from a slow download of pictures via a serial lead. The C200 is very similar in operation to the C960 but the USB lead dramatically speeds up the download time. The pictures are of a very good quality and the camera is very easy to use. An AC adapter would have been a useful addition as it saves on batteries, however, internetcamerasdirect supply them at a very competitive price! The front cover of the camera has two positions and it must be pulled into the second position to take pictures - be aware as it is not immediately obvious that there are two positions. The 'panorama' feature is a nice addition. The software included is very similar to the one provided with the olympus C960, but it is not used to download the pictures! I can definitely recommend this digital camera and the services of internetcamerasdirect. The delivery was prompt and well packed - more importantly, the price was £50 cheaper than those on the high street and includes a bundle of useful extras.

Overall I Am Not Satisfied With The Value For Mone
Overall I am not satisfied with the value for money on the Olympus C200 digital camera and I wish I had bought the fuji 2600 that comes with rechargeable batteries, charger and 16Mb card. The camera performs poorly or fails to focus at all under low light conditions even under ISO 400. I haven't played with all the settings yet but this seems to be the case. I don't like also the fact you have to switch off the camera in order to see the pictures and / or delete them
you don't need to turn off the camera to see pictures, you just need to press the display button twice when you want to see or edit already taken pictures and it doesn't matter in which mode the cam. is.
i believe you wont have such a bad opinion of your camera now a? bye
Dear user, thnx for your comment, indeed I can see the images if I press the image button twice with the camera on. As I said I hadn't played with all the settings. Another thing, I would like to mention is that I contacted Olympus technical support and they told me that Camedia SW will not work with this camera because it works only with parallel port cameras. However, you can use explorer if you want to see or copy the pictures and you can also the stitch feature. Nevertheless, when you pay so much money, isn't it a bit deceiving when they supply the camera with a software that doesn't work and they know about it? And in addition they told me it's not in their intentions to make it work with USB cameras! I would appreciate it more if they said that this sw doesn't work instead of wasting my time trying to find why.
Perhaps your reviewer would be better of spending his time reading the instruction manual for the C 200. I have one and have been thoroughly impressed with it. I have a Canon Ixus and EOS and was going to choose the A20 Powershot, but after trying both cameras found the Olympus far more user friendly.
By the way - if you press the menu key twice with the camera turned on you can view your images. Read the manual before making incorrect comments!

Produces Good Images On The Hq Setting - 32 Images
Produces good images on the HQ setting - 32 images on 16 Mb smartmedia card. Easy to frame the subject in the optical viewfinder. In bright light the LED screen can be difficult to see (perhaps the same on all digital cameras). Good printed results on an HP840C, though not up to screen quality. Rechargable batteries are recommended since indoor shots using the red eye reduction mode eat them up. A lot easier to use than my Olympus OM1N and you don't have to wait to see the results. I was pleased with the speedy delivery from Internetcamerasdirect and have the chap at curries to thank, having advised me to buy it on the internet as it would be cheaper than the £349 that they were charging - without the extra 16 Mb card, which is essential.

Good Value For Money And Produces Excellent Photos
Good value for money and produces excellent photos. Using the camera for general photography and very close work and cannot be faulted. Camera feels solid when compared to Fuji and Kodak cameras which were alternatives I looked at. Has the usual digital camera problem of getting through batteries so rechargables are essential. If used at the higher resolutions available you need at least 32mb card to take a decent quantity of pictures.

This Is My First Digital Camera And I Am Really Pl
This is my first digital camera and I am really pleased with it. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of buying it from Jessops rather than this site and this is not a mistake I shall be making again as the Jessops price is around £40 more for the same camera with none of the added extras that this site provides.
That said my first real use of the camera was last week whilst up in Scotland and it performed admirably even when climbing Ben Nevis in appalling weather and I was able to get some excellent pictures. I also used the zoom facility and the panoramic view feature to get all of the mountain in my picture. Using the movie feature enabled me to record my ascent up the mountain and the bleak landscape around me and also enabled me to show anyone watching the movie afterwards the dismal weather conditions whilst I was there.
Picture uploading to computer using the USB lead supplied is straightforward even for a novice and in conclusion I am really pleased with the camera and look forward to its use for a long long time.
