I Have Always Bought Nikon Cameras, As My Dad, Ble
I have always bought Nikon cameras, as my dad, bless him, was a professional photographer. So when the Nikon Coolpix 5900 digital camera came about I thought I would give it a go. I love it! It's a handy size to carry in a pocket. The quality of the pictures are excellent. The rechargeable battery lasts ages, and as it is a rechargeable one, it means you don't have to spend a fortune on buying the things. The camcorder bit is good for those little clips.
I would definitely recommend this.
You can buy cameras with 10 mega-pixels now, but to be honest, unless you want to enlarge the photo to the size of a small bus, you don't need anything bigger them 5 mega-pixels. Great settings for outside and party mode. Really natural pictures.

My Wife Got A Nikon Coolpix 5900 Digital Camera As
My wife got a Nikon Coolpix 5900 digital camera as a gift. Our first proper digital camera.
The main thing is it gives nice sharp pictures.
It has lots of functions, all of which seem to be easy to find, which is very important.
Likes - the cable to connect to the TV, and the audio annotation that can be added to each photo.
Dislikes - nothing really, other than you have to take the battery out to recharge it, but we've got a spare so that's okay.
I like the fact that it has video and sound recording up to the full amount of memory left on the machine, and the video quality is not bad either.
The zoom is short, but I don't like the super duper zooms.
When you run out of memory, which your not likely to, considering the price of memory cards now, you can whip the memory card out, and the camera defaults to the internal memory, which is about 13MB, enabling you to take a few more pictures.

Machine is still working without problems although it's hardly used.

18th September 2006
Still hardly used.
I'm finding that it's mainly being used to make a quick record of documents, settings or layouts.
Still haven't filled up the memory yet.
We're still sticking with film, mainly because of my poor housekeeping when it comes to electronic files.
We have a tried and tested method of looking after out negatives which is not the case with electronic files.

24th May 2006. Camera is hardly used, still has the original set of pictures on it. Nothing to say except it still does work and the battery keeps its charge in between long periods of not being used.
Still happy with it as such.
