Nikon Coolpix 2000

Wanting a simple to use, digital camera, I read many reviews on this one and they swayed my decision enough to go out and buy it above any others.

So far, I haven't been disappointed. It is as easy to use as point and click, but it also has a few advanced features tucked away, like white balance, metering mode and exposure compensation.

Granted, it isn't the flashiest of cameras to look at, some would even say it looks cheap, but appearances can be deceiving, as it houses a multitude of features, some of which I haven't even got around to using yet!

I have no complaints about the picture quality, (this can even be adjusted depending on what you want to use the picture for). The colours are great and the clarity above average.

The zoom IS noisy, but not so much it bothers me. I would recommend an extra memory card and a set of rechargeable batteries. I find I get a couple of hours life from rechargeable batteries, which in my opinion is acceptable for a digital camera. Regular cell batteries can be used also, but just won't last as long, but at least they are always readily available in emergencies.

The flash is adequate enough, and could maybe do with being a little brighter, but it does the job and picture quality doesn't really suffer because of it.

Tranferring images to your PC was a lot easier than I had expected. I connected using the USB cable and selecting PTP, and followed the easy instructions. Everything worked without a problem.

There is also a movie mode, and although you can only record 20 seconds of images (at 15fps) without sound, I still found this useful, especially for web use.

Although the zoom retracts into the casing when the camera is turned off, the LCD screen is exposed and the camera casing doesn't look the most robust, therefore a camera case is a must have essential.

Overall, I would recommend this camera, maybe not for advanced users, but most definately for beginner/intermediate users, it is ideal as an introductory camera for digital photography, and great value for money.

This 2 megapixel is low price, good value. The ratings given is for being a 2 megapixel camera. If you have nice interesting pictures taken with this camera or a 2 megapixel camera send them to me and I'll send some of my best ones to you.

I compared my camera to a friend's. I found they got a better deal, for the same amount of money.

It is my first digital camera so I can't compare it with another one, but I must say that it is wonderfull
