For A Serious Amateur/hobbyist Like Me The Minolta
For a serious amateur/hobbyist like me the Minolta Dimage A1 is the best digicam (except for the A2) there is, especially at today's low price. It is a camera designed by photographers for photographers. I don't think it is THE camera to buy for point and shoot photographers but if you really want to be in control of your shooting, there is no other digicam that can beat it. The Antishake mechanism really works wonderful. I have shot razor sharp pictures at full tele (200 mm) with a shutter time of 1/15 sec. The only other camera I may buy in the future is a digital SLR because of the interchangable lenses.

Since Buying Mine I Have Not Found Anything About
Since buying mine I have not found anything about the camera that I don't like. If you like the idea of being fully manual YOU CAN. If you want to go fully auto YOU CAN. If you want to go anywhere in between YOU CAN. Even my wife has been able to pick it up and use it and she is a confirmed technophobe. Fot the price I doubt if you will find a better deal. When I was comparing cameras I was surprised to see that the picture quality was actually better than some cameras costing £200-£300 more.

I Bought This Minolta Dimage A1 Digital Camera To
I bought this Minolta Dimage A1 digital camera to replace a Fuji S602. What a mug !!! Slide show presentations are poor verging on bad depending on the subject of the photo. Videos are nowhere near as good. Now I am stuck with the realisation that I have spent a lot of money on a camera that does not perform as well as the one I had. The only sensible option is to dig out the Fuji from the back of the wardrobe and start using it again. (Will the Lord Commander of the Universe and all that lives and breathes therein notice; and what excuses can I attempt. Help Required !!!!!!!!!!!
This reviewer obviously doesn't rate the A1's ability to produce movies. Perhaps he should have bought a camcorder instead? The review would have been more helpful if he had rated the still image performance as well. After all, that's what most of us buy a digicam primarily for, isn't it?

The Minolta Dimage A1 Is A Great Slr-type Camera W
The Minolta Dimage A1 is a great SLR-Type camera with non-interchangable lens .. but who cares it offers a great zoom range from 28 to 200 which covers all the lenses in a SLR. I have taken thosands of photos but i havent seen any hint of purple fringe and thats exceptional. Read the professional reviews on:

In a word this camera is for serious professionals. And sure pro this camera beats the hell outta its competitors. :P in all aspects.

Omer.
You are very right about the batteries in the A1, it sure uses the proprietary Li-ion, The review was actually meant for the 7Hi, i regret for that. However, if you own A1/A2 cheer up cause these cameras are more superior than the already superior 7Hi, well technically actually.

Omer.
Very helpful review but thought Minolta had changed to lithium batteries on the A1.

This Minolta Dimage A1 Digital Camera Takes Great
This Minolta Dimage A1 digital camera takes great pictures, pin sharp while hand-held at speeds which would normally necessitate a tripod. I understand that there is a bit of noise on night snaps but that isn't relevant to me. Otherwise the pictures don't need any post-production in Photoshop.

The Minolta Dimage A1 Is One Seriously Good Camera
The Minolta Dimage A1 is one seriously good camera. Image stabilised CCD, means that hand held low shutterspeed shots can be confidently taken. I have used digital cameras costing more than four times the cost of this one, and the Minolta Dimage A1 wins hands down.
