thanks for your comments.I was using Firewire and using a sony camcorder burning to DVD was fine it seemed that the panasonic was the issue,I have just had success with Ulead Video Studio 9 and having just read your comment you came up with this program as well.Thanks for your advice.

You didn’t mention how you managed to download the video contents into your PC, either through Digital interface i.e. IEEE 1394 or via analogue video capturing (like S-Video or composite), including which type of video editing / burning softwares, currently, you are using.

Anyway, I would like elaborate following & hope you’ll get your problem resolved:

This is basically the compatibility issue, for the reasons:

1) First of all check it out your video capturing card (you are using for downloading) which should be compatible with Panasonic’s or other typical editing or burning softwares (check it out, which type of video capturing cards are compatible with Panasonic’s) or try to use different editing software, as compatible with your card).

2) Windows XP should be Service Pack-II with DVD plugs in & encoders (separately downloadable).

3) Most important thing, your DVD player must be enabled to read DVD-R & DVD-RW Discs, because earlier DVD players are not capable to playback DVD-R & DVD-RW Discs, as most DVD ROMs are capable now, in that case, you have to change your DVD Player with a latest model.

4) Use Nero Burning Software (6 Edition) to burn / compile DVD Videos with ‘DVD high compatibility mode’ checked, this can resolved many problems & compiled DVD will be able to playback in any standard DVD Player.

5) Makes & Model of DVD Burner & DVD-R Discs are also important, I always recommend Sony DVD Burner (DRU 800-A with Dual Layer recording ability) & good quality Blank DVD-R & DVD-RW Discs (with compatible DVD ROM speed).

6) For capturing/editing & authoring, I would like to recommend, Ulead Video Studio or Adobe Premier (whichever current & full version available), especially Ulead Video Studio series, which are simple for beginners, having the ability to compile whole video content into direct Disc format (i.e. DVD/SVCD/VCD), including for generating MPEG-I & MPEG-II video files, directly to Hard-disk. So try to use different Editing / Burning Software (those as described by me), if Panasonic’s editing software is giving problem.

have you had any problem copying to dvd , as my XP windows programs that I have used with Canon and Sony came up with statement that no device was connected. Panasonic's own program did ok but would only copy to the hard drive and when I then tried to copy this from hard drive to DVD the disc would then only play in computer and not DVD player.
