The Leica Ultravid 8x42 Bl Is The Leather Covered
The Leica Ultravid 8x42 BL is the leather covered version this review describes. The optics are so sharp that finer and finer detail emerge as one views.I can see the rings of Saturn and moon craters.I can read the date on a coin at minimum focus. The view is like you are there and not looking through an instrument.I have noticed a film on the edge of an inside lens from the front of one barrel. This is disappointing since my expectations were as high as the price.I will keep the binocular unrepaired to use as evidence of Leica quality. This has prevented my purchase of other Leica products.I carry the binocular with the red dot facing inside since the brand has not exceeded every expectation.Perhaps a trade-in program for this model by Leica will emerge to retain customers.

These Binos Are Just Superb, As For That 30 Year G
These binos are just superb, as for that 30 year guarantee, well that says a lot about the quality. Customer service backup is top class. Had a minor problem with my diopter setting but was sorted out by Leica. No other problems to report so don't feel confused about sourcing a set of these binos, you will never look back. Build is solid and handling, stability and comfort is superb. Even in cold weather, they feel strangely warm to the touch. I love these binos and they will not be up for sale in these tough times.

The Leica 8 X 42 Bns Are First Class Binoculars -
The Leica 8 x 42 BNs are first class binoculars - you probably won't find better. I can't fault the item other than having a cheap case and for nearly £700.00 I think they deserve to be protected properly.
However, be careful where you purchase them - Leica don't choose their retailers with much care - Ace Optics at Bath were not much good. Leica just rely on their good name to sell the product and you don't get good specialist advice from this retailer. If you try to contact Leica they don't bother to reply.
I agree. They have done the job perfectly. No probs at all.
