Canon AT-1

I bought my Canon AT-1 back in the 70's and used it for many years to take pictures of my 7 children as they were growing up. I have very few pictures that came out badly, mostly my fault, then decided to go more auto, and traded it for a Nikon 4004s which was a great camera, but not as good as my old canon AT-1. The picture quality wasn't the same, then I went digital for a few years and now I am back to an AT-1 again and couldn't be happier.

The Canon AT-1 35mm SLR camera has many pros and cons.

The pros are a solid body with many lenses, motor-drives and flash gear for a very cheap price.

If it breaks down, just go out and by another one.

The lenses are made of metal with real glass. A bright clear viewfinder with excellent center weighted metering.

The camera had a real metal feel, rather than another plastic fantastic camera.

It is the updated version of the FTNb camera in a new body and metering.

The other cameras in the same range are the AE-1, AE-1 programme, AV-1, A-1. These mostly have interchangeable bits and pieces.

Overall, it is a huge system.

The cons are that it was replaced by the Canon T range, and then the EOS range, so that some parts are now hard to find, or can be in poor condition, or worse still collectors items, but the price is cheap, and film quality will still knock digital into a cocked hat.

Canon AT-1 - I love this camera. I only use Canon lenses (fd mount), I have gotten many great pictures from it. Best present that I have ever gotten.
