SCP Hair Straighteners Mk 5.3

An absolutely rubbish company that trading standards should investigate. Straighteners are Ok but no better that any other brand for about £25.00. Customer service and speed of response and delivery is truly awful.

I first bout my first pair in 2007 they lasted up until febuary last year they were really good so i bought another pair firstly they took 3 weeks to arrive anyways used them as normal nothing excesive 4 weeks later they blew in my hands and started smoking, i contacted them and was told they would replace them a week passed nothing 2 weeks nothing email after email, they apologised and said they were on their way arrived 8 weeks after they first said they would replace them they arrived and to cut a long story short they this morning once again they blew smoking sparking! i would advise anyone not to buy them not even from other sites their dangerous 2 pairs setting on fire in 1 year isnt good!

I got SCP tourmaline 5.4 staighteners as they were recommended by someone who said they were better than GHDs. So for christmas 2008 I got a pair for myself and a pair for my daughter. She is on her fourth pair after they all stopped working! Mine stopped working too in July and was told to send them back for a replacement pair to be sent out by return post. I did and after 3 weeks heard nothing so called them to be told they would be with me in 3 days! That came and went so when I called them again to see were they were was told I couldn't have any as the company had gone into liquidation and should never have been told I could have a replacement pair! So why did they tell me to send them back costing me as it had to go recorded delivery have there staff any idea of what they are doing?

When I complaind about this they said they were sorry and I shouldn't have been told this and they would offer me 50% off any other product! Ye like I'm going to spend any more money with them! Dont waste your money folkes buy from somewhere else were you will get a proper guarantee and staff that know what they are doing! Staff at hairstuff direct all give you different information I would't recommend them to anyone. Don't buy from them is my advice!!

I got these SCP MK 5.4 hair straighteners for a Xmas present (Dec 08) (they were bought from HairStuffDirect.co.uk) and now almost 7 months later they are completely dead - they don't heat up at all. I haven't ever dropped them or mistreated them. So much for the year guarantee, it's complete rubbish - when phoning up to tell them a couple of days a go, I was told the company has gone into liquidation so there's nothing they will do, although they will offer me a discount off another pair!!! They actually expect me to PAY good money for some more!!!! (Not sure why they still seem to be selling them though!!) What a waste of money!!! I asked about speaking to the manufacturer and was told there was nothing they would do to help me either!

I also add that when they did work I didn't think they were particularly great, the plates felt horrible on my hair.

I am very disappointed and annoyed. And I have read so many other similar stories. I have had a Babyliss pair and a Morphy Richards pair before these and they lasted years. I have now treated myself to a pair of GHDs :o)

I bought SCP Hair Straighteners Mk 5.3 for my daughter at xmas just like you. They were great for the first week then they broke. I did manage to get them changed but again they broke and they have gone bust what are we all suppose to do now?

I tottaly agree with you, scp hair straightners are an absolute waste of time i am now on my 4th pair as they will not refund and i have a pair of useless hair straightners because they are in liquidation!! Iv only had them since christmas and iv now ened up just buying GHD's which i should have in the first place. HONESTLY DONT BOTHER!
