I Bought This Razor To Replace An Ageing Philps Hq

I bought this razor to replace an ageing Philps HQ 7870.First impressions out of the box was that it was flimsy and not so well built as my previous razor, the shaving heads seem plasticky and a bit light weight.Once charged and filled with lotion it proved a dream to shave with, very comfortable and really did glide across my skin, a bonus with this razor is that you can use it in the shower, doing this provides an even closer shave but does mean you use more of the lotion. The lotion is dispensed by briefly pushing a button above the on/off button on the razor, I generally need to push the button five time during a single shave, I do have particular sensitive skin though so may be using more then I actually need to. The replacement lotion is around £7.00 for 75ml, this does seem rather expensive and I haven't been able to locate a high street shop that actually has it in stock. Having said that I have found that if you carefully prise the top of the bottle, if you have one you will see that there is a faint line just below the top, carefully insert a blunt knife and with care you can prise the top off, I then filled it with shaving gel, this has worked well and with 200ml is less the half the cost of the Nivea product. The razor is supplied with two methods of charging, the first method uses a shaving station, the conditioner is slotted in to the back and the razor in to the front, once plugged in the razor charges in about an hour and half and should give 40 minutes of shaving, when you first plug it in the station automatically refills the razor with conditioner, to be honest I think the station is pointless and could be dispensed with by Philps and perhaps a better carrying case supplied in stead, the case supplied is small and has no where to store the supplied travel charger. As the razor can be refilled with conditioner manually by just putting the nozzle to the back of the razor and pumping two or three times the station just seems like a gimmick.I have now put the station away and just refill manually and use the travel charger supplied I now shave every day with no ill effects to my skin, with my old electric razor I only shaved once or twice a week. Over all I am very pleased with this razor, I bought it from Amazon where it was on special offer for £80.00 rather then the usual £150.00, I wouldn't have paid full price for it, I was actually looking to buy one of the cheaper versions but came across this deal while searching online, the cheaper versions which are essentially the same except for longer charge times and shorter shaving times.
