It Really Does Take A Well Designed Product To Get
It really does take a well designed product to get me banging on about it.
But when I find one, that's exactly what I do.
By profession I'm a telecommunications engineer. But I've done other stuff in the areas of industrial design, ergonomics, and marketing, and In my opinion the RE-ZAP box is right in there.
Another one of "these bang-on" products is my company van: Mitsubishi L300 - 2.4L, fuel injected, 5-speed manual. 1996 model with now close to 400,000 original km.
My little Road Rocket! Everything in it reflects choice of good materials paint, plastics, wiring insulation, rubber hoses etc etc.
Most astounding to me are the engine management electronics.I've personally had no issues in 23 years! My friends are sick of me ranting about it. :) And its handling. :)))
The Re-Zap unit is in the same category.

Excellent Gadget - Saves Hundreds Of Pounds Every
Excellent gadget - saves hundreds of pounds every year for us. We use a large number of Duracell 9v batteries in radio mics. Nearly every battery takes a good charge for up to a dozen times. A really good device - saves money and the environment!!!
I confirm, Duracell batteries are also the worst batteries to handle for other battery regeneration devices. The DuoRegen, the Souvenir Cranwell regenerators also have more leakages with Duracell batteries than with other battery models.
They also leak more than the average other brands in normal use.
The reason can be the additives, or the vent, or both of them. This is an open question....
Please note that Digital Works, the manufacturers of the Rezap charger, do not recommend that you recharge Duracell alkaline batteries. I personally have recharged many different makes of alkaline batteries and the only one that I had any 'real' problem with was Duracell (when they leak they really create a mess, whereas other makes display a white power on the terminals or leak into the jacket). A battery wholesaler told me (they sell 1,000s of batteries a month) that the Duracell alkaline batteries were the WORST for leaking (even without recharging) of all the brandname batteries that they sell.

I Have Recently Seen This Product On One Of The Sh
I have recently seen this product on one of the shopping channels and having heard what it could do, I quickly checked a few websites to make sure it was held in high esteem, and promptly bought one.
What can I say. If you have never owned a battery charger before, and therefore do not own any rechargeable batteries then this is a great product to invest in. It will allow you to recharge alkaline and titanium batteries up to fifteen times, which has got to be a saving to anyone. If like me you have children who own toys that eat batteries up quickly you can recharge them and use them again. It is recommended that you don't wait until the batteries are completely flat before you recharge them, because if you do drain them completely, it is more difficult to revive them. Trust me this product really does work with alkalines. I had a battery which had a tester on the side and it showed it was very low charge level. Half an hour in the charger and the indicator read three-quarters full, If you consider the cost of a pack of four alkalines can range between two and four pounds depending on where you buy them, this product will pay for itself in no time.
It also charges both Ni-Cd and Ni-MH rechargeables (well why would it not). The beauty of it is you can charge virtually all sizes of battery in it (even flat prismatic batteries that you sometimes get with minidisc and MP3 players, which is great considering most chargers are only designed for AA and AAA size cells). Plus you can mix and match battery chemistries together (yes you can recharge alkalines next to Ni-Cds it is that good). This is because each terminal is individually monitored by the device. There are no switches to change battery types, the machine does it all for you. When you insert a battery it knows what type of battery it is, what charge it has and how much it needs to restore it. The problem with a lot of chargers is that they either don't have any monitoring capabilities, or there is just a timer which maybe doesn't give the complete charge needed (they don't all work particularly well like this, I have tried several which don't). Also if you overcharge Ni-Cd batteries it can severely shorten their lifespan. It will even give an indication of which batteries cannot be charged again (doesn't happen very much with rechargeables but some alkalines may be too old or have too little charge left in them to be revived. Lithium and Carbon (heavy duty) batteries are not able to be charged in this unit.
Another excellent feature is a built in battery tester. Put a battery in the first slot and it will instantly tell you what strength the battery is, and it will then start charging. And because each terminal is individually monitored once the battery has reached it's optimum condition it will stop charging and switch to trickle charge, which will help keep the battery at an optimum condition until you put in in one of your appliances.
It's a real shame this device isn't more widely available. I guess the battery manufacturers wouldn't be too keen to see this widely available, but it is a truly great invention. The company are based in Australia and have apparently spent between seven and eight years researching and making this product so that it does it's job safely. It isn't a turbo charger like a lot of chargers supposedly are these days, but it charges them properly and safely, so you know that when the unit stops charging a battery it has been given a correct charge and you are going to get the optimum number of charge cycles out of it.
I cannot praise this product highly enough. As I said at the start of my review, if you are a big battery user, get one as soon as possible, you won't regret it.
I agree. Have been an owner for some years now and can't fault.
I'm not raining on Re-Zap's parade, but if it claims to 'recharge' alkaline batteries, this can't be done due to the internal chemistry.
What happens is a REFRESHMENT whose efficacy is limited and unpredictable and is only suitable for alkalines which subsequently are subjected to a lowish discharge rate.
I've no doubt that Re-Zap is otherwise as the review claims.
